why are my babies not sitting up yet? or even trying to? i'm not a crazy mom, just a very concerned one. i keep reading that by 6 months most babies are sitting up. is there anything i can do?
were they born full-term or prematurely? if they were premature, i would use their corrected age when thinking about developmental milestones.

Steady on. I made a habit of ignoring your rude comments. I am not a "loser" for protecting innocent babies from knives ripping away healthy and functional part of their genitals which God perfected (95:4) - those who support it ARE in the Hereafter according to the Qur'an.

"When the affair is decided Satan will say, "Allah made you a promise, a promise of truth, and I made you a promise but broke my promise. I had no authority over you, except that I called you and you responded to me." (Qur'an 14:22)
Ace,

I need to remind you that takfir against Muslims is not allowed here. You are free to voice your issues with circumcision, but you must do it in a manner that does not impugn the faith or character of your fellow Muslims. Implying that people who have their children circumcised are in league with the Devil is completely unacceptable and won't be tolerated.

shiver,

were they born with low birth weight? i wouldnt worry too much cause its common that twins may be just a little bit delayed in motor development since they usually are born with low birth weight, theyll get there inshallah

what motor development stage are they at now? im an occupational therapist (inshallah hope to be working in the pediatric field soon!) and i can pm you some suggestions on how to get them to sitting.

hey. thanks for replying. i really appreciate it

i wasn't aware of a link existing between low birth weight and delayed motor development. that's really interesting to know. they were both born at approx 5 pound. they're turning over both ways now, grabbing things, eating everything etc, etc. only thing they seem to be behind in is sitting up. what's weird is that i see the faster twin beginning to raise his body off the floor these days, as though he's getting ready to crawl..but i don't think that's even possible before he sits up, right?

i'd really appreciate it if you could pm me your suggestions!

they were born a month premature, so i did take that into consideration. but the thing is they reached milestones like smiling, rolling over on their stomachs, the other way, etc a week or two earlier than babies of other families we know, who were born a month or so before them.

edit: i'm with rain on the aceofhearts garbage. seriously, no one cares.

My sister had twins as well and they skipped some stages of development alltogether and one used to roll instead of crawling. Children develop at different paces. How old are your twins? My sister's twins are about 5 years old now and right where they should be developmentally.

For those with talking children, what are some funny things your children say?

I remember my daughter used to have the hardest time pronouncing the word horse. So she would always say hore (whore). She was obsessed with horses and when we were in public she'd say things like:

"did you see that hore, what a big hore"
"baba is a funny hore, what a funny hore" (she used to pretend my husband is her horse and even used to put a pretend saddle on his back)
"maman are you going to get baba a real hore"

We used to get so many weird looks, lol.

Shivers, awww don't sweat it. What is considered 'normal' is quite diverse. Each child develops at their own pace, some may take slightly longer than others [do factor in them being a month premature- I was born a month premature too ]. Also, many say that at 6months the babies are usually sitting up with assistance. They are able to hold their heads up, right? If so, they are totally on the right course! If you're worried, check with your pediatrician. How old are they now?

Trust, before you know it, they'll start developing so quickly, you'll be missing this stage!

I thought these were really cute:

Indoor Escapes for Kids

Pictured: Foam Sweet Home Indoor/Outdoor Interlocking Panel Playhouse ($150, QVC.com)

Pictured: Villa Julia Cardboard Playhouse by Magis ($275, aBaby.com)
Your budding designer will have hours of fun coloring the cardboard structure and putting on the stickers that come with it. When it’s all done, she can invite a playdate over to her new villa for a tea party.

Pictured: Indoor play tee pee ($225, Etsy.com)
This handmade teepee is a comfy spot to read a book or pretend to be Pocahontas. It is made from 100 percent, unbleached cotton and its fabric base is washable. Adorning the front, are appliquéd flowers and birds, made with vintage fabrics. On the side, a cut-away window has workable gingham curtains and an appliquéd, flower-filled window box. If $225 is out of your budget, consider Target.com's similar option for $149.95.

Pictured: Cardboard Cottage Doll House ($24, UncommonGoods.com)
This adorable cottage comes with a set of eight non-toxic, washable watercolor paints that your little one can use to decorate his new abode. The house is 100% recyclable so once he has outgrown it, you can toss into the trash guilt-free.

Pictured: My Very Own Castle Playhouse ($27.63, Walmart.com)

awesome! my husbands co-worker gave us their Brittax carseat and I love it. It's not an all-in-one, just a convertable but it's so easy to install, she is very comfortable in it. I just recently changed it to forward facing. Our other carseat is an eddie bauer one and it's not half so easy to install.

this one is so easy to install! It has the cool push button latch connectors, and the strap is self retracting, so you just connect and then push on the seat and it tightens by itself. took longer to get it out of the box than to get it in the car!

that's so cool!

We only have latch in one car, the other is all belts. Doesn't matter anyway since latch doesn't work in the middle seat position of the other car. Installing with belts can be such a pain
