My GPA sucks, can I still get a good job
Long story, I managed to do a lot of stupid over the past year and my overall GPA is at 2.5. I go to a nationally ranked Business College and the classes are simply too hard compared to what I was used to in High School. Let's just say the Public High School I went to wasn't the best.
I have slowly started making some progress, and y grades are not as low as they were in my first two years; but chances are my grades will not be high enough to get me into the 3.0 range. My Business Class GPA is actually at around 3.2, but I did TERRIBLE in my Science and English classes.
I am a Finance Major and I am seriously getting worried with the economy and what not. How can I make up for my lack of GPA? Can anyone hook me up with a relative/friend on the East Coast (prefferably Boston, Massachusetts area) who is interested in a passionate, hardworking Business Major who simply is not good at other subjects

Re: My GPA sucks, can I still get a good job
i'm living proof that you can. my dear sweet professor that i love to death failed me for two courses because i was a dumbass and didn't attend...well anyways, long story short, i managed to convince my uni to change the F's to W's aka i withdrew them. i had to attend GWU in DC to make up those classes and my GPA rose from a 1.87 to a 3.0.
I don't have the most glamorous job in the world, but it's ok. I'm an analyst in a major law firm in Manhattan..well, I was. Today was my last day. Your resume matters, your personality, looks, and overall personna figure in too. Oh and outside activities and what you've done career and school wise.
Don't sweat...if anything you may need to work up the ladder but it's doable...
In doubt, remember that Bill Gates dropped out of college and look at him now

Re: My GPA sucks, can I still get a good job
2010 InshAllah, as of right now I have been working full-time at the TJX Corporation which owns Retail stores TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Bob's, HomeGoods, AJ Wright in US; Winners. TK MAxx and HomeSense for our UK and Canadian friends
I'm really busting my butt off to get my GPA as high as I can; but I'm also thinking about using an "unofficial" college transcript to "unoffically" raise my GPA by a couple points as some of my friends have done. But first I would have to make sure the company is not to nosy and doesn't contact the College to confirm; I hear it's rare for companies to be THAT nosy but don't wanna take a chance unless I'm totally sure.

I'd be really careful about that, it could bite you in the ass later on...you never know.

Just wanna point out that being a drop out doesn't mean you got below average GPAs in school...

Don't do it. If a company wants transcripts, it's likely they'll want official ones anyway and if the one you provide doesn't match, it will set a red flag. You can always stay with TJX for a couple of years after you graduate and then apply for something else, at which point your GPA wouldn't need to be on your resume anyway. Good luck.

Re: My GPA sucks, can I still get a good job
marks dont matter at all, maybe only in few feilds like medicine or other scientific fields. The only thing that matters at the end of the day is that are you sharp enough too handle the job??? sharpness is the main key that every employer looks for. It doesn't matter if you have a A+ average, if your not sharp, your just not going to survive in this competitive world.
