I think that if the standard of care is applied to a patient and they develop a hospital acquired complication anyway, then they're going to pay for it. So if a patient gets lovenox and ICDs and is encouraged to move around and actually assisted in doing so by the nurses, and they get a DVT anyway... that isnt the medical personnel's fault, and the hospital is gonna get paid for the extra drg. at least thats how i understood it.
hopefully the rules will improve patient safety. They'll definitely make the environment tougher for doctors
