Re: i spelled my name wrong on my resume and other job-related mistakes
eye contact is a main thing. and try to be as comfortable as possible and make it into a conversation. stay sitting up, dont crouch. try to avoid "um's" and "uh's". be honest because they can see through liars.
anyway! i had an interview once at old navy, and the lady asked me if a family member or someone i knew stole from the store if i would tell. and i said no. i didnt get the job what the hell, if i was to say yes they would know im a dam liar. IT WAS A LOSE/LOSE SITUATION. stupid.

No, they just wanted to see your professionalism and code of ethics.
If you said you would take personal responsibility in ensuring integrity of stock at that exact store, and then followed up with an actual example [instead of just a yes or no answer] then they would have believed you if you said "yes".
They're not stupid either. They're not going to waste their time interviewing people only to toss them out on a lose-lose question.
(Wait a second, aren't you in HR anyways? Why am I telling you this?)

Re: i spelled my name wrong on my resume and other job-related mistakes
i've been told to take notes , maintain eye contact, and ask a lot of questions

Re: i spelled my name wrong on my resume and other job-related mistakes
thanks for the tips yall.
ibn mardiyah, i dont think i'll be trying that. i'd fall flat on my face and cry.
im pretty much hoping that im the only person that applied for the job.
i think that's what happened with my current job.
the job before that i got cuz my brother worked there.
so yeh, no real interview skills here.
i researched the company today and made up some questions to ask them. also went down to the location so i know where it is.
inshallah it'll go well!
duas please!

Re: i spelled my name wrong on my resume and other job-related mistakes
u'll be fine do a mock interview with yr brother or another family member.
The fact that they offerred u an interview even though u gave them the rong number shows theyre definitly interested.

Re: i spelled my name wrong on my resume and other job-related mistakes
just got back.
it was okay i guess. he asked me if i knew what greenhouse gases and i blanked, mumbling something about the ozone layer. i think i came off as a fake environmentalist.
they pulled a bait and switch on me. the position was advertised as Data Analyst. the guy said it was 70% data entry. and then he asked me if i was still interested.
kinda went downhill from there. i feel stupid losing interest though cuz ill still learn something if i get the job. it's a energy solutions firm (help companies cut energy costs/ operate efficiently).
also they gave me water in a kiddie cup.

70% Data entry?
That's a job that can drive a person insane. I wouldn't be disappointed if I didn't get it. Trust me when I say it'd be a blessing.
Insha Allah khayr.

i said i had not seen inconvenient truth.
from the website, they dont come off as hippie. but they seemed quite hippie cuz the dude asked me about environment stuff alot.
i was trying not to come off as environmental-friendly in my cover letter cuz i thought it might look bad...and i didn't really prepare myself in that aspect.

Re: i spelled my name wrong on my resume and other job-related mistakes
Ive got a job interview at a popular & too expensive stationary store. I should be happy but I dont really wanna work there. Ther people there are annoying. But it's one of the few shops I know where they dont have a lot of smelly teenagers, so maybe that's why they offered me an interview so soon. (They didn't have a vacancy advertised).
But half the people in there are miserable or cranky. Like one time I took out a paper pad and put back in the slightly wrong place. The the guy had to put it back and he was all huffy and puffy and 'for goodness sake...' really loud. Im like it's only a little out of place you dont have to cry about it and sthu cuz the customer is always right.
Speaking of smelly teenagers I had a job interview at Boots when I was 17. It was my first and I was all enthusiastic and happy, my face hurt from being so smiley. Then I messed up at the role play bit, cuz she was being a customer asking me if the camera had flash and stuff. I was like uhhhhhhhhhh im not sure (but thinking back I should've just made it up for the sake of roleplay? Or should I have read the box and stuff to check? This is what I was confused about at the time). So anyways I applied another 2 times and didnt even get an interview. I saw this smelly emo boy being interviewed aswell. He got the job .
So anyways. I need help. What questions are they likely to ask and what should I say?
What do I do in my spare time, why do they care what kind of answer are they after ?
This is my 2nd interview ever (alhamdulillah). .

Re: i spelled my name wrong on my resume and other job-related mistakes
google 'interview dos and donts' and 'interview questions'
YouTube - mock job interviews
they'll definitely ask you why you want to work there.
