Re: Come here for Medical School / Residency Advice
I took the path miniboard today...it was pretty brutal.
Is that pretty indicative of what Step I is going to be like (5 weeks away and counting )

never took the Path shelf but if you want a really good idea of what Step 1 is going to be like, take the exam that the NBME offers for free on their website. I dont have the exact URL anymore but i'm sure 10 million students in your class do. Its about 100 or 150 questions long, all real Step 1 questions, some still in rotation..

Re: Come here for Medical School / Residency Advice
Someone in my class sent out the PDF for it a couple weeks ago. I think I'm going to hold off on doing it till after I've read my Kaplan books, otherwise, I think I'm just going to freak myself out even more.
At least now I know that a 26 hour continuous marathon review of BRS Path isn't sufficient preparation for NBME questions.

I'm finishing up with finals right now...have my last one on Friday. We've had two weeks of continuous exams...so I haven't really been up to much else for a while now.
Studying is coming along I guess...though if this morning's exam is any indication, I have quite a ways to go.

The Path NBME did indeed suck. I went through all of BRS, most of First Aid's path stuff, and about 300 qbank path questions before taking it and didn't feel prepared for it. We also took the physical diagnosis NBME which was all over the place.. there were tons of neuroanatomy questions that I didn't see coming.
Oh, and from what I've heard from upper-classmen, the path nbme is not indicative of whats on the USMLE's path section. Most people seem to agree that qbank (USMLEWorld and Kaplan) is the closest to the real thing.

Re: Come here for Medical School / Residency Advice
by the way, those tests are curved, so dont be too worried. you always come out thinking you bombed but your grade will be a percentile and i'm sure it wont be as bad as you expect

That's good to hear.
I signed up for Kaplan qbank...haven't tried it out yet though. I guess now that exams are over, I better get started.

8 credits of organic chemistry
8 credits of general chem
8 credits of bio(minimum)
8 credits of physics
your MCAT will be a reflection on how seriously you took those classes
cheers,

And don't slack off. Just becuase you were smart in High School DOESN'T mean that you can get away without studying in College. For instance, you need to start reading the organic chemistry text the summer BEFORE you start taking the class.
