budmano can correct me if I'm wrong but the concept of wisdom teeth causing other teeth to become crowded has fallen out of favor.

when you don't have room for your wisdom a number of things can happen..it can become impossible to properly clean the area, the wisdom tooth can negatively affect the second molar (cavitiy-wise, gum problems, etc), you can develop an infection.

I've seen the surgery done. it takes a lot less than an hour. it's like taking a nap and you won't remember anything from when you sat down to when you woke up and it was over. if you absolutely don't want to be put to sleep there are other sedation options..if you don't mind being conscious.

(meanwhile im thinking of keeping her airway open..like you know...with one of the mouthprops..only if i can find it handy somewhere nearby...)

well...she is 11 years old..but she's my sister. i wouldnt be on islamica if i had children of my own.

a friend just had her orthognathic surgery to correct her severe dentofacial deformity...

al hamdoulilah SHE SURVIVED.. She's Out..

I remember when i had 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out but i was unconcious thank god. Afterwards, i was afraid to look at my self in the mirror cuz i looked soooo bad..

The best part was when my hubby (fiance then) fed me strawberry milkshake it so soo cutee.

as far i know..she had transverse maxillary deficiency..and excessive open bite problem..poor thing, four days at the hospital....orthodontics is tough and boring, hope you do well in your cases inshaAllah.

i felt some mild pain about 2/3 years ago and suspected my wisdom teeth were coming, but I don't see anything different in my mouth? Did i get them? Do all people get them? Is it possible to get wisdom teeth at all ages?

they're part of your normal 32 teeth, but some people are congenitally missing them...they won't erupt after a certain age...yours must've grown in all the way or maybe stuck in your jaw
