you should definitely take her back to the dentist..the cause could vary depending on her situation..

if she has slight discomfort it could mean, the filling is a little high? or by "hurting" you're implying she is in pain, is it sensitive to hot/cold? or it hurts only when she bites down? overall, the dentist will be able to tell more accurately whats wrong, when he/she will look into her mouth and see the x ray.

Tylenol, oragel, and salt water gargles help for me. My brother used to get really bad ones, for which his doctor gave him a prescription. I'll try to find out which one it was.

Edit: There's a bunch of prescription meds, I don't know which one my bro used, but you should be able to get one from your doc. Apparently mylanta or maalox as a mouthwash can help, because they coat the erosion. They're also associated with vitamin deficiencies, so try a daily multivitamin if you get them frequently. Also, they can be associated with inflammatory bowel disease, so get checked out if you also have GI symptoms.

i dunno if she feels pain when she bites down or her tooth is sensitive to hot or cold, but i do know it was severe pain. i mean popping advil and tylenol all week kinda pain. chugging Anbesol kinda pain. and i doubt the cookies and ice cream i keep buying is making her toothache any better

I take maalox chewing tabs for my heartburn? is that the one you're refering to? I have never looked into taking multi-vitamins, because i used to eat a healthy diet until recently im living off fried fand junk foods. Also, few years ago, I had common IBS symptoms, so my doc prescribed me Barium enemia x ray and few other tests, it turned out the tests results were all negative.Al hamdoulilah

sweety, take her to the dentist tomorrow! I can't really tell whats wrong..normally it takes a while for ppl to adjust to their new fillings, especially if they were big cavities. but u said, its been one month. ask her to avoid that area all together when she is chewing/drinking. sorry that the best i can offer. unless displaced or budmano can share some tips?

no worries, your input is appreciated . although i believe she's already avoiding chewing at that area of her mouth. and we had already planned to take her tomorrow inshaAllah. her doctor has been closed all week though

The liquid maalox would be more effective. Also, vitamin deficiencies can do funky things, including canker sores.

thnks sis. what kind of multivitamins would be good for starters? the celebreum stuff? i used to be more concerned with my calcium intake since i barely consume any diary products so i'd take calcium carbonate tabs, now ive given up on that too..

Personally, I like one-a-day women's, because it has good amounts of the necessities. It has enough of everything to be a supplement - not a substitute for dietary intake - while not going overboard (since too much of many vitamins can actually be toxic).

Canker sores are miserable, so I hope yours is better soon.

a topical anesthetic..you'll find them in the dental section in the pharmacy + tylenol if you need it.

I don't recommend listerine to anyone. the alcohol content is much too high, which is drying and irritating. if you want to use a mouthwash, choose one that's alcohol-free like crest prohealth or ACT (check the label. only once type of ACT is alcohol-free).

I would just recommend a visit to the dentist. like the_only_one said it could be a number of things. impossible to make the call without xrays.
