Budmano786: when are you done?

I'm done inshallah in 2010...I'm specializing in orthodontics so its 3 years...I'll be turning 29 when I graduate
medical and dental students are actually in school the same amount of time...they're both 4 years long...physicians have a mandatory residency though where as with dentistry, its optional...and dental residencies vary from 2 to 6 years while medical residencies vary from 3 to qiyamat

Over here the optional residency is around a year for recent dental grads, (which rarely anyone does),then they can go out and start working! thats like at the age of 25! Also, some people I know of take additional evening courses on side to enhance their skills in endo/ortho whie they work full time. ps: ortho is 4 years here.
whereas I think medical doc are in a sticky situation, they have 4 years med school+ 4residency+ 3 specialization..well thats the case for the person whom I know of...poor guy = OLD.
inshaAllah all the best.

one of my patients who's a med student didn't know his molars are called "molars."

I have no wisdom teeth also! My dentist took an x-ray and didn't see anything. When I asked him if its bad that I don't have wisdom teeth, he said "Not having wisdom is always a bad thing." and I asked again, "No, I mean the teeth"...and got the same reply.

Well its bad for him, because his pocket money won't grow, when he'll send you a bill for extractions of those four teeth. overall its good for you. If you've a small jaw to begin with, by additional teeth in your mouth your wisdom teeth might push your other teeth and cause 'crowding' which isnt great. then its a pain in the neck, you see.
correct me, if im wrong, budmano786, displaced.

I think that idea has fallen out of favor..that third molars push other teeth and cause crowding. crowding is just a discrepancy between the size of the teeth and the space available.

thats the explanation I received when I enquired, why is it mandatory for them to extract my wisdom teeth? or is one of the hardest to reach area to brush/floss, which in turn can contribute to caries?
