its possible...I know of a lot of people who had abscessed, dead teeth that would never bother them...but later on, they could flare up (i.e., phoenix abscess)

Phoenix abscess...as in the phoenix bird in greek mythology which comes back to life from its own ashes...or more relevantly, the name of Jean Grey when she returns from the dead in the X-Men comic books

but in all seriousness, a phoenix abscess is when you have an acute flare-up of a chronic, low grade lesion (i.e., what you have right now)...basically, when the tooth ache comes back to life after beign dormant for a while

yeah, I have. they usually end up getting full mouth extractions and dentures. it's very sad to be making dentures for a 25 year old.

you could probably get away with waiting a bit. I wouldn't recommend that. you have an active infection going on. once it perforates the bone, you may end up swollen, in pain, etc. it may also perforate the bone and drain into your mouth. it's essentially a collection of pus.

My wisdom teeth are growing and there is no space for them in my mouth. I'm probably going to have to get them removed. But in the meantime, it's painful for me to eat anything. Any tips?

perhaps avoid any solid foods? try liquid food: hearty soups, pure juice etc..to meet your daily recommended intakes for all the nutrients?

warm salt water rinses in that area, preferably with some sort of irrigation needle...that will keep the area clean, prevent infection, and decrease inflammation

Why haven't I found this thread before now?

anyway, I have extremely sensitive teeth now after getting them cleaned by a new dentist over a month ago. I also had a tiny cavity filled on the lower left side in the second tooth from the back. It was a white filling instead of the regular metal one. My teeth are sensitive to cold, hot, sweets, a lot of other stuff and sometimes even just touching my teeth with my tongue. It's not one particular tooth but all. Sometimes the top left side teeth will hurt, sometimes the lower front, sometimes the gums ache.

What the heck is going on?!
