your kids will attend..
polls4lyf
this is assuming youre the only one who has a say in the type of education your children recieve.
also assuming finances arent an issue
choose the option that you find yourself leaning toward the most. dont take into consideration things like school system and etc, because obviously ifyou opt for public school itll be in a good school system.

Re: your kids will attend..

one with real teachers. with real degrees.

Re: your kids will attend..
I am been thinking seriously about this.. I would perfer they go to an Islamic private school that teaches the math/science along with a Muslim enviornment.
Sorry to hear about your experience Deel..there are Islamic private schools in the US that are pretty good. I think Laimun went to one.

Re: your kids will attend..
Probably public school, is where I'd send them.

Re: your kids will attend..
this thread reminds me a bit of shadha's thread, though it's not quite the same topic.. here's what I posted in there, though.

my husband and I both agree that if we're economically stable enough that I don't have to work, we're going to homeschool our children (at least for elementary and maybe middle school). since I'm an elementary education major, I'll be 'working' in my field anyway. like sally said, what is taught in public school in 8 hours can be completed at home in about 4 hours, plus you get to teach whatever extra material you feel is needed. and of course, they would be put in whatever extracurricular clubs they had interest in. I would take them on field trips, etc.
|
when homeschooling, you get to concentrate on areas you feel your child needs more help in, or in areas you feel are important for them to learn.. all within a set curriculum's guidelines, of course. I just feel you can make the education process more hands on when homeschooling.
if, for whatever reason, I couldn't homeschool my children, I'd send them to a good islamic school in the area. and since I don't want to homeschool my kids past elementary (possibly, middle) school, they'd be sent to an islamic school eventually anyway.

yea, I graduated from an islamic school. it was an interesting and unique experience. not even kids who attend islamic schools today will get the same sort of learning experience that my class did.. in high school, we only had teachers for 3 subjects, the rest were self taught.

Re: your kids will attend..
Advanced Private Schools where they'll get their proper education and learn more than an average children on daily basis, then they'll attend madrassa over the weekend, since I'd want them to be lil einsteins and also become lil 3alim/3alimas just like their distant uncle, Dr. Zakir Naik. inshaAllah
(no comments on my comments please:, because I know its do-able and for the records, no im not gonna be an evil mother..just investing in their self development through proper education for their own brighter future. ))

Re: your kids will attend..
i would want to homeschool my own children. I was homeschooled till Grade 7, then sent to a madressa, but i see how much i benefitted from homeschooling. of course, thats still a LONG time in the future for me.

Re: your kids will attend..
I would send my kids to public school with weekend supplements. I don't think homeschooling would work for me because I have negative feelings about it and the same goes for Islamic schools. Private school is an option, but it would depend on the school's environment. If it's for rich snobs then no, but normal kids, sure, why not. Tehre are some good charter schools these days too, so that may be an option.

Public school.
I feel that my child wouldn't experience diversity in a private school or an islamic school. It's important for me that the child meets people of all classes and creeds, and learns how to interact with them.

I was doing some reading regarding homeechooling and there is an increasing number of Muslim Americans consdiering home schooling.
I dont' think you would pass off opportunties of diversity if you do not put them in an Islamic school.. remember that the Muslims come from all shapes and sizes.
