Eid decorations at work
so i work at a computer lab at my college. and they just put up the christmas decorations...which i dont get cuz most of the student workers are muslim or hindu. so i want to put up eid decorations.
what should i put up?
i'm thinking stars and crescents.
my other idea was hanging cut-out bakras by their necks...like stockings! with fake blood.
i'm also really bored at work.
oh yeh...have to ask my supervisor.

ummm I wouldn't go with the bakra idea...but stars and crescents sound good. Also if you look online they have some websites with Eid decorations. i don't know them off hand but i know when I was in the MSA we used to get it for our Eid dinners.

People might think it's Halloween again . On our campus we're trying to do the same thing, put up decorations and all for Eid, but we're not sure what to do either.

Unless you are Turkish or Pakistani then I don't get why you would put up stars and cresents? WHy put up decorations in the first place?

Re: Eid decorations at work
I searched deviant art and printed out spiffy Eid Mubarak Signs. I taped them up on the ledge of my cube and strategically positions a bowl of candy right on top of it. That way, when people reached in to get candy, they're like, Eid Mubarak and I can jump in and be all like, yes, Eid is blah blah blah.
Next year, I may get this set of eid decorations. I had this, but it ripped when I moved offices. And we have this banner at home. We put it up for Ramadan...2005...and it's still there

That's awesome. When I was in charge of my high school's MSA, I wanted to bring in a live bakra for Eid. Kind of make like a petting zoo in the school's field.
Everybody nixed that idea; I dunno why. I thought it was brilliant.

True but it was started by the Ottomans well actually it was the Byzantine Christian symbol for Constantinople which the Ottomans adopted as their own.

I think you'll find it was started by Pakistan. Turkey just copied it.
