Eid decorations at work
so i work at a computer lab at my college. and they just put up the christmas decorations...which i dont get cuz most of the student workers are muslim or hindu. so i want to put up eid decorations.
what should i put up?
i'm thinking stars and crescents.
my other idea was hanging cut-out bakras by their necks...like stockings! with fake blood.
i'm also really bored at work.
oh yeh...have to ask my supervisor.

ummm I wouldn't go with the bakra idea...but stars and crescents sound good. Also if you look online they have some websites with Eid decorations. i don't know them off hand but i know when I was in the MSA we used to get it for our Eid dinners. |

People might think it's Halloween again  . On our campus we're trying to do the same thing, put up decorations and all for Eid, but we're not sure what to do either. |

Unless you are Turkish or Pakistani then I don't get why you would put up stars and cresents? WHy put up decorations in the first place?

I searched deviant art and printed out spiffy Eid Mubarak Signs. I taped them up on the ledge of my cube and strategically positions a bowl of candy right on top of it. That way, when people reached in to get candy, they're like, Eid Mubarak  and I can jump in and be all like, yes, Eid is blah blah blah.
Next year, I may get this set of eid decorations. I had this, but it ripped when I moved offices. And we have this banner at home. We put it up for Ramadan...2005...and it's still there

That's awesome. When I was in charge of my high school's MSA, I wanted to bring in a live bakra for Eid. Kind of make like a petting zoo in the school's field.
Everybody nixed that idea; I dunno why.  I thought it was brilliant.

True but it was started by the Ottomans well actually it was the Byzantine Christian symbol for Constantinople which the Ottomans adopted as their own.

I think you'll find it was started by Pakistan. Turkey just copied it.
