Okay heres my take on it. The cresent star symbol may ahve been popularised by the Ottomans but was originally a Christian symbol left over from the Byzantine era. Why would you even want that near you?

As for decorations, if you want something then use some non christmassy lights.. personally i think decorations are tacky, but each to thier own.
