I was thinking about grad school, but I decided that I should go to Law school. My teacher said it would be pointless to get a master's degree in Journalism, and I am not really sure I want to get one in Criminal Justice just yet. Therefore, my love of the law has brought me to my decision to apply to Law school.

Another Masters, insha'Allah. Development Studies or maybe Anthropology. PhD in International Law? Hmm ...

Definitely a B.A. in Arabic (grammar & literature).

been seriously thinking which research domain to do my master's on (although theres still some time for me to graduate). & in today's world, attending grad school is like a must for opportunities when taken from the working side of the issue. to me, its just another tool to get knowledgeable, direct your future life (and be happy, feel tranquil with it) building upon your background as well as the one to make money to survive and get through in a way to deserve God's appreciation.

currently Ive got Graphics and Middle East Studies in mind. khayr inshaAllah.

Allah help to all and ease our ways

Salaamz,

Age has nothing to do with it. I'm older than you are. Very old. And I still want to do a 4-year BA in Arabic. You can always do it part-time. That's how I plan to do it, insha'Allah

I guess I'll ***** and moan here eh.

So for the last year I've been busting my ass working two jobs, as many hours as I can get, to pay my way through school. I bought a car, got my permit, and was a happy little camper. I enrolled myself in a community college to take several credits to save money. My idea, take as many credits as possible from a community college then transfer over to a 4-year university-- saves a couple thousand in the end.

Yeah, well. I enrolled but had to drop out before I even started. Transmission on my car died and so now the 3,000 I saved up for school is bye bye. I feel ****ty that I can't go back to school this semester. I have already been out of school for a year, eh. I'm not even sure I'll be going back next semester either- might be moving out of state.

So now I'm back to square one really. I want to get a BA in Elementary and Special Education. However, I also want to take some business management, sociology, religious studies, multicultural...I hope I can take some classes as electives eh? Or maybe a major and a minor perhaps? No idea. I suppose I should begin by first deciding which university to sign away my life to. :P

Any advice to offer would be great.

Shadha sorry to hear that. Is it possible for you to take a loan? Subsidized loans don't collect interest while you're in school and you don't have to pay until 6 months after you graduate.

If possible just take even one class this semester, it's better than nothing. Taking classes (and liberal arts classes rather than ones for your major, since when you transfer, some colleges don't accept certain courses towards a major from another college, but usually if it's just some general/101 course they will) at a community college is a good idea, and since every major requires some core classes/liberal arts requirements, you should be able to take those other classes you're interested in and have them count for your major.

shadha-
1. Figure out what state you're going to be in when the school year starts.

2. Pick a university in that state that has the program you want and that's close to your home (as living on campus tends to be more expensive and you can save money by living at home). If there's a good public transportation system in place, then you won't even need a car really. If there's no semi-reliable busing system, then you can even bike and that'll save you money too.

3. Student loans?

Good luck!

Shadha, go to the financial aid office of the college. But, if you really want to get your BA, go to a 4 year college and visit with their financial aid officer. There are some grants available for AA students which you might qualify for. There are also grants available for students who want to teach. But, don't give up without talking to them. Best of luck, I hope it works out for you iA.
