Default How do you deal with the office boiler?

I have to work with this guy at work and he boils really easily ... like boil as in gets mad/frustrated/annoyed... and he tries to compensate for it by being super nice... but it just comes across as awkward and/or weird/creepy . Like he calls me bud and slaps my shoulder. One time he even used the word "budaroo".

I'm just glad he's not my boss.

So discuss how do you deal with the office boiler and (other office personalities )?

depends on how closely you have to work with him? i'd say as soon as he gets pissy, tell him to come back to you when he's calmed down... you really can't do much unfortunately...worst case scenario tell your manager...

I'm typically that person. I get frustrated easily because I work in a textbook store and I have to constantly put back books on these shelves in the back room that are jampacked and whenever you try to open up room, the books slide off the shelves. Takes 30 mins because of the inefficient system when it should take 10 seconds. I don't take it out on other people though. Just mutter to myself and damage the old editions (which are completely worthless).

But I am actually pretty pleasant with others. They actually seem to take a liking to me. We joke and talk a lot.

In the UK the term boiler is used to refer to person who is not attractive..thats what i was expecting..skamed you disappoint.

When he blows up...compare him to an effeminate homosexual..see what happens.

Dream,

HAHA Nice. But that's not me at all. And actually Milton did burn down the building so it's hard to say that he didn't take it out on others.

There's actually a guy in my math class who reminded me of him so much. He turned out to be a really nice guy and extremely smart. He also studies Hebrew (not a Jew) so we got something in common...kinda (I'm studying Arabic).

The office boiler? Hmm... heat a kettle with the steam he blows off, and make tea?

Hey skamed, I heard this song, and thought of you

Since he is not your boss - I would just try to avoid him as much as you can. I worked with someone like that (and he was my boss). Everyone around me knew he was crazy - they even called him my crazy boss. I mean to the point of him cussing and just blowing up. However, I'm very calm and would try and just brush it off as much as I could. There is a buddhist saying that everything is a gift and you can choose whether or not to accept it. If you don't accept it - who does it belong to? Him. His anger is a gift - choose not to accept it and it belongs to him solely. Also, the truth always comes out. People know he's a bit nuts - even if they don't seem to mention it to you - so find comfort in that. Plus - you won't be working with him forever.
