Airline sacrifices goats to appease sky god
Nepal's state-run carrier makes offering after technical problems with 757

KATHMANDU - Officials at Nepal's state-run airline have sacrificed two goats to appease Akash Bhairab, the Hindu sky god, following technical problems with one of its Boeing 757 aircraft, the carrier said Tuesday.

Nepal Airlines, which has two Boeing aircraft, has had to suspend some services in recent weeks due to the problem.

The goats were sacrificed in front of the troublesome aircraft Sunday at Nepal's only international airport in Kathmandu in accordance with Hindu traditions, an official said.

Goat meat's delicious. They should serve it on the plane. Wait, they're hindu.

But wait, I didn't know hindus sacrifice animals. So what are they gonna do with the goat once they kill it?

Hindus do sacrifice animals. Only Brahmins don't eat meat. Sacrificing an animal for the gods is practiced in most Hindu festivals, as far as I know.

There's also a practice back home, which I haven't seen very often (but heard of), that people sacrifice a goat when they buy a new car and let the blood run under the car wheels before washing it off. Probably superstitions, but I guess all cultures do weird things for weird reasons. For the Hindus, at least they're doing it for their god. I still wonder why it's done for a car.

They will soon see that it was the same one God, who created them and all else, allowed them to resume their flights. And in the Hereafter, they will be regretful for associating partners with Him.

Why would the sky god be interested in goats, shouldnt they have sacrificed birds or something?

because Bentleys and Rolls Royces are seen as an aspect of God even if those people dont admit it, otherwise why offer sacrifices to them

There are different versions of the Hindu faith. Most Hindus don't sacrifice or eat animals. This was done by an older vedic sect.

I'm not sure if a bird can feed everyone on a plane. I'd go for goats.

But yes, your theory makes sense. Sky gods might be more interested in birds.

I'm just fascinated that hindus sacrifice animals, until another post help clear that up.

Anyhow, if Allah (swt) ever blessed me with a Rolls Royce, or any car that I can drive out of town without worrying about the engine freezing up, I'd zibaa a goat. And feed it to all of you.
