yeah that one and there 1-2 others that show inter-religious love.

look at the theme of the show

"
There are no boundaries of love, irrespective of any caste, religion or tribe, love can travel anywhere and cross unlimited boundaries without a return or possession over the other person"

Meri Adhoori Mohabbat

That was one of the ostensible reasons my parents decided to get GEO and ARY, so that their kids could learn more urdu culture and all that jazz because we're so freaking white-washed ... my dad's booming "URDU BOLO !!!" was pretty common in the house until recently.

So anyways one day I'm just sitting with my mom watching TV, it was some Geo news program and they were showing a scene from Karachi or Islamabad or whatever, a scene of a street with shops and stuff. While the reporter was blabbing, I was reading all the shop signs in the background, and they were all English words, transliterated in Urdu, even though I knew some of the Urdu translations of the same words in English.

So I turned to my mom and asked her why the signs weren't in actual Urdu and she didn't say anything. Then I just muttered something like "What's the use of our generation trying to learn the language and culture if the home country itself is screwing it up so badly?"

And then today, during lunch the TV was on and they had the desi version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" on and I as like .... what the heck ... can desi people ever be original?

hahaha star plus right? we dont have the indian channels at home we just have ARY and GEO but they were giving a free preview a few days ago for star plus and i was watching that and it craked me up...shah rukh is hilarious on that show.

i watched a few episodes of meri adhoori mohabbat but i coudlnt understnad that much going on in it cause i had already skipped the first few episodes, but it seems to be the best drama runnin on Geo lately. i LOVED koi tou baarish on ARY. it was the one drama i had watched from begning to end and it didnt have like 189 episodes or something.

thats the problem ive noticed with some of the dramas. they tend to stretch the plot out sooooo much that it just gets weary to watch. it stops keeping u on the edge (even though it seems thats what theyre aiming for) and just makes u stop watchin cause u dont care anymore....like tere pehloon mein was the best drama runnin on geo in my opinion and it still is besides the fact that the plot just keeps twisting itself around and around, but its in its 180 something episode and same with mehndi waale haath. thats why i stopped watching those dramas, and just stuck to the weekend ones that last an hour and finish up faster, AND they are the best dramas.

You know what, most Pakistanis know that these are rip-offs of American shows, but they could care less. They'd rather watch it in Urdu than English.

I'm trying to figure out whats the best way of getting a message to all of the ARY and GEO viewers that all the Desies in the west think those rip-off and imitations shows are EXTREMELY GAY and it makes us laugh and roll our eyes to no end, and that they should please show some freaking originality and make up their own style of hit TV.

There's that one girl who has her own talk-show and she BLABS SO MUCH it drives people insane. One of my uncles was visiting, he's a nice gentle elderly man, even he began criticizing her. I was wondering if her show or any others had some kinda of live call-in viewer comment line, and I was planning to call in and start talking in my usual white-boy California-surfer-dude English accent, saying salams and all .... and then after like 30 seconds, switch to satirical imitation of fob Urdu and continue my remarks like that.

Havent got the chance yet
