have fun in the mother land.

being that i'm from Lahore, and is probably one of the oldest cities in the country (and the sub continent), here are some parts of the city you should visit:
- Shahi Mohalla - which includes all the historic monuments like Badshahi masjid, Lahore Fort, Alamgiri Gate, Shish Mahal, the tomb of Iqbal and various gardens in the area. The famed red light district "Heera Mundi" is also in this area...
- Shalimar Gardens - absolutely beautiful
- various historic bazaars that are located centrally in the city, like Anarkali bazaar, Rang Mel, Ichra, etc
- Punjab University. reprezent
- Food Street. some of the best food from local vendors/upscale restaurants. hands down.
- Mall Road, where a lot of the governement and corporate areas of Lahore are located.
- Liberty bazaar/Fortress Stadium/Pace offer a more 'modern shopping arena'
- and of course, Minar-e-Pakistan

there's a bunch of other areas, but that's all i could think of for now.
have a safe trip, and take lots of pics

assalamu alaikum

for those that dont know me, prior to the noob invasion i used to be semi-cool. now ima nobody

anyway. im going to the motherland in a couple weeks for the first time since 97. im gonna visit family in karachi, multan, lahore, faisalabad, rawalpindi, and a bunch of small pinds. i love family and all, but i want to check out the country as well. any nice spots i should check out?

feel free to share, heh.

Salam

Faisal abad is basically one big 'pind'. You might want to visit the famous clock tower/ghenta ghar.

Lahore: You should definitely check out this restaurant called "Cukoo's". It's right across Badshahi masjid and you get an amazing view. And obviously, goes without saying, check out badshahi masjid.

Rawalpindi: Drive upto islamabad and check out pakistan monument'. And on the way there visit Heritage museum too. Also you might want to see faisal mosque.

And if you like visiting historical places; Rohtas fort is 2 hours drive from pindi, near jhelum. Also Taxila ruins are about an hours drive from pindi.

Don't eat any gol gappays, and I hope you enjoy your trip.

Have a safe trip, iA. When do you leave? and keep in mind its very, very hot there- your head starts to buzz the moment you step out of the AC. Keep water handy at all times, and stay on Nestle.

Take pictures!

Wait... is that frowny face because you're in Jaysh room? Give Jaysh a chance, I'm sure in person he's very hospitable in person. It must be a little ackward meeting someone in person who you only know from the net. Relax and enjoy your time.

If you're frowning about nobody posting in your thread, or about nobody being excited about you meeting Jaysh... well speaking for myself personally I don't have any desire to ever meet Jaysh in person. This has nothing to do with Jaysh as a person. I'm sure he's really swell. I just have a thing about meeting internet people IRL.

Have fun!!!

Mahata Palace (Qasr-e-Fatima Jinnah)

This palace is situated in the area of Clifton, built in 1933 in a Mughal Ghothic style with imposing domes and cupolas. The palace was used as the residence of Quid-e-Azam's sister, Fatima Jinnah until her death in 1967. It is also known as Qasr-e-Fatima Jinnah.

National Museum of Pakistan
The National Museum of Pakistan at Karachi, Pakistan. It was established in Frere Hall Building on April 17, 1950 replacing the defunct Victoria Museum. The historic building of Frere Hall itself was built in 1865 as tribute to Sir Bartle Frere, Commissioner of Sind in the last century. The basic objective of establishing National Museum was to collect, preserve, study, and exhibit the records of the cultural history of Pakistan and to promote a learned insight into the personality of its people. Once the Museum was inaugurated then the Government of Pakistan deemed it wise to constitute an Advisory Council in 1950 with a primary duty to counsel the Museum on the issues of enriching its collection through new acquisitions and purchase of antiquities and works of Arts.

Pakistan Maritime Museum
Pakistan Maritime Museum is a naval museum and park located in naval estate at Habib Ebrahim Rehmatoola Road, in Karachi, Pakistan.

The main museum building is located inside the park. It comprises six galleries and an auditorium. The museum is based on modern concepts of presentation and interactive education. Different artifacts of maritime and naval heritage have been incorporated through attractive dioramas, relief sculpture, murals and miniature paintings, touch screen computers, taxidermy and ancient weapons. A computer based maritime information retrieval system has also been incorporated to facilitate the visitors and students for easy access.

Pakistan Maritime Museum is known for its well-organized displays, rides and greenery. The museum is open throughout the year for seven days a week. There is also a souvenir shop.

yup they are, i went to mohenjodaro in Sindh and it is such a nice place. But the place was so empty and no tourists come there for some reason, i guess thats a good thing, but on the other hand its also dissapointing as pakistanis dont really seem to care about their amazing past.

mohenjodaro is a 5000 year old city, which was one of the advanced cities of its time in the world:
