sugarberry: and why does it bother people when someone in any capacity says something negative about dubai in any manner?
It would go aganist the intrest of the Development companies to reveal how strongly their impacting the envrionment in a negative way. So of course on their own sites and industry assocation sites they wouldnt relay 100% accurate truth

Preach it woman.

PATHETIC.

How about building the largest university. Or the biggest library. Or maybe the largest free education scheme for children in the world.

You should become a billionaire and build a large Islamic library to set a good example

Some of the Dubai corporations and others are also building some fancy buildings in Pakistan, check them out:

I'd probably start out with free schooling for all children in countries like Pakistan, somalia. Libraries will be the second step.

But dubai has the money already. They sicken me.

I'm sure they devote some money to such virtuous causes, but it is still a business , and they spend their money on whatever will bring them financial growth from the worldly perspective.

I do agree though that with the ridiculous amount of wealth pouring into Dubai, they should start thinking of having greater aspirations than just creating the most luxurious tourist spot for rich Westerners. But that they are investing in construction in other countries is a good sign...

Education CAN be a business. The Boston area is a prime example of that. Its about executing a strategy, with good intentions. I simply do not see some important components of it in Dubai's leadership.

The development in Dubai scares me.. I feel like they're going overboard. ALhamdulillah I don't have to live there with the constant construction, not to mention major traffic headaches with all the stuff they're squeezing in.
I dunno it feels like we're moving closer and closer to the Day of Judgment.

i understand your concerns, but most of these projects are getting built on worthless desert. economically worthless, and biologically worthless... how is it bad for the environment to build a huge futuristic city on a desert coast? are there specific things about dubai construction that you consider to be bad for the environment?
