I don't like Dubai. Too much wealth. Too much opulence. Too much dunya. Too much catering to the West. Everything seems so fake, so artificial. It feels as if there's no essence or soul to the city, there's no culture or tradition. Just mindless development and materialism.

your not kidding, the poorer places still have tradition and islam left in them. My friend was in yemen and he told me so many great stories from there.

Be modern and following the west definatly gets rids of the islamic traditions, this is why we should all be agianst this.

Dubai outdoes itself again ... setting a new record for tallest tower. 2/3rds of a mile high .. over a kilometer high.

[In reality its just Nakheel and Emaar trying to outdo each other in building the tallest building in Dubai.]

Islamic Ingenuity Inspires Dubai's Capital - Nakheel Harbour & Tower

Asalamu Alaikum,

I don't like dubai anymore. Its claustophobic-y, too many bulidings, traffic isn't being handled in contrast to the speed in which malls, apartments, towers are being made.

Every time I go, shopping for one purse for example will take 6 hours, and most of that time is stuck in commute to and from.

Dubai is only good for an occasional visit, not to live in.

The doors of kings are locked now and guarded by their henchmen, but Your door is open to all who call upon You. My Lord, each loved is now alone with his beloved. And I am alone with Thee.

Yeah, Abu Dhabi seems more attractive, for now.

I'm seriously thinking of moving to Dubai when I'm done with college. It's the futuristic Muslim city I dream about.

if that's what you're dreaming about then you'll likely be better off living in Abu Dhabi by that time. Dubai is already a crass, glitzy, expensive, grid-locked metropolis filled with expats.

I can't wait to move to UAE. But not Dubai. My original plan was to move to Sharjah but I prefer AD, it's more convenient for work. iA khair. I hope it all works out.
