Default Resources about Turkey

i'm doing a little research about Turkey, and I need good resources that I can use to look up information. Specifically, I am trying to learn about one particular village in Turkey and the people who live in it. I dont read turkish and all the materials on the internet that I've come across are in turkish. I dont know what books or even what type of book might have the kind of information i'm looking for. Basically i'd like to know the population and demographics, the local government structure, the names and addresses of all local government officials, the names of the schools, the names of local papers if there are any, stuff like that

this sounds like archival research kind of stuff, where i would have to learn turkish, fly to turkey, and sit in a government archive somewhere to look everything up. all of that is impossible, but if anybody has any ideas about where else i can find info like this, it would be appreciated.

usually reference books have this kind of info. College libraries might have one on Turkey, and possibly info on that village unless it's obscure. I would bug a reference librarian, a big academic library like NYU's Bobst might have one. (just call up their reference desk and ask and tell them what you wrote below, they also have subject specialist librarians working at the reference desk and probably have a mid east studies librarian who could be of help with other sources).
