Oh Spice, I love black and white films.

This song: YouTube - Aayega Aane waala is so eerie, it's beautiful. And it brings back so many childhood memories for some reason, though I've never listened to the whole thing.

This song:YouTube - "Gujra Hua Zamana" - Lata Mangeshkar is a favourite of my mother's. It reminds her of when she was getting married and her brother flew out to Kuwait a few days before the wedding since his Visa worked like that. It's such a sad story. She said she heard it on the radio a few days before he was flying out and she and her khala just sat there and had a good cry. Back in the day, people had a strong sense of sacchi muhabbat and dilli pyaar.

You know how you have them kids books with the story written in English and then some other language like Turkish, for example?

Well today, I had to read the kids a book called "Owl Babies" and this time, the book was in English and Urdu. "Owl Babies" was translated to "Ulloo ke bachay."

It really isn't that funny but I couldn't help myself.
