just two or three years ago, i wore my kaffiyah to a video store near my house. i live in a heavily irish town just next to the city limits. and a teeny bopper white girl saw me wearing my kaffiyah, and gave me this crazy look. after that i stopped wearing it in public. |

but as far as statistics are concerned, i think we representative of the overall national average. which is about 33% south asian Muslims, and 30% arab-american muslims. its a major city, the third biggest in america, home to one of the, if not the, tallest building in the world. were not some backwater city in the stix, like you would find some place in maryland. so i think our population is pretty representative for the rest of america.
we also have alot of african muslims too. i mean people whose origins lie in africa itself. especially a very large somali community. and a very large nigerian muslim community, along with sudanese as well. alot of egyptians here too. |

I think its a nice quiet way to show your support. I have both red and black, but I don't know where my black one is. I haven't wore either of them out...I mean damn I wear the Hijab, I think everyone knows where my support goes...but I did see a guy-customer at work wearing one.

displaced: I dislike colin farell as an actor. he's not the slightest bit diverse.
True, but he is also incredibly MashaAllah [could lose the earrings though ] and his voice is incredibly MashaAllah, so his poor acting skills are excused for me. ![]() ![]() shadha-

I thini its funny that American girls find the Irish accent attractive. In europe the Irish viewed as retarded..not fair but thats the stereotype...
The Keffiyah is a nice way to show support...without being too obvious..
