It's a mix. He's at one end of the extreme. Some people are unbelievably nice. Most are somewhere in the middle. Our hospital also took care of the prison population and the thing that surprised me was that the prisoners were much, much more polite than the corrections officers.

The guy you encountered was obviously a jerk. No medical cure for that yet. Except a swift thappar.

when i was only 16, during the taraweeh prayer, a lady collapsed on the floor and everyone present got worried..including my lil sister she began repeating "inna illahi wa inna illyhi rajioon" over and over again
apparently, the lady was praying across from me, so i ran to help..and i SOOOOOOOO wanted to try my CPR lessons on her..then one of the female doctors handled the situation without my help, () and said 'next time it'll be my turn'

I think people have forgotten the lesson of the Good Samaritan. Perhaps they should make a Hollywood movie out of it to jog people's memories?

I'd stop to help, and tell others what to do. The vast majority of people really are dumb idiots, no one wants to step forward and take responsibility.

There are rare times when its nearly illegal to step forward, like for example if you have a suicide caller on the phone. Then, you have to pass it off to an authorized, trained and certified professional - otherwise you can be held legally liable for that person's death if they do kill themselves.

In most states here if you try to do CPR on somebody, you can be held liable for any injuries they sustain and if you do it without being certified in basic life support then you can be held liable for their death even if you were doing everything right.

Actually, anyone who voluntarily helps a victim in distress in protected from being sued for "wrongdoing" by the Good Samaritan law. All states have some form of the Good Samaritan law, including DC. I specifically know NY has one because Stony Brook has a first-response group. This law was created so people wouldn't be reluctant to help a stranger because of being sued or held liable.

Good Samaritan laws dont protect you if you dont know what you're doing. If you are trained in CPR and hurt somebody while trying to save them its different from somebody who has no idea what they're doing severing somebody's spinal cord by moving their head around after they broke their neck in a crash. These laws state that people have to act in accordance with their level of training

My uncle saved a hooker from a rapist once, when I used to live in the ghetto. We heard screaming outside and he scared the raper away and let the hoe come inside until the police arrived- i was like ewww.

But she left before the police came, so that was a relief.
