I don't think he converted... he said he was a cultural Christian on Hard Talk last year. He's just saying he celebrates Easter and stuff, but is still an atheist.

He accepts the culture he's brought up with has been Christian and so many of his cultural practises will have a Christian feel to them even though he doesn't believe in God Nothing new about Dawkins and nothing new about atheists

He is just another armchair cultural warrior who uses his atheism card to reject the goodness of non-white people. If he really was truly secular and atheist, he would be dealing with real issues regarding human rights, morality and so on ala Foucault instead of bashing religion. Yet he would not be willing to accept many of the positions Foucault held, simply because he is a cultural imperialist.

And...? (he was a lot of other things as well, including a drug addict, enjoyed the company of men and other things...) My point being that Dawkins is just a middle/upper class English twat who is culturally imperialist and uses his concept of "atheism" and "secularism" to push it. He should stick to biology and not venture in to theology or philosophy as far as I am concerned, let alone speak about Islam with zip all knowledge about the religious tradition, its tenets and history to base his opinions (and they are clearly only opinions) on.

i agree, but i'm not surprised nor angry. Atheism is, like the period of Enlightenment, exists with the false sense of rationality. I think some people are genuinely scared of religion and dawkins is an example of that. I have met uncountable people who's parents were Catholic, they grew up Catholic and now they refuse to go anywhere close to any religion
