Default karachi - places to eat & stuff to do

I MISS THE MOTHERLAND

mostly just karachi..i've never been anywhere else

and so i was thinking about all the things i'm gonna do next time i visit..and of course..eating out is #1 priority.

ive been meaning to make a list of good places to eat there for a long time..so ill just put them here.

i actually dont expect this thread to recieve very many responses cuz i dont think a lot of people on here have been to karachi or know much about it? but we'll see.

ok...so here goes.

1) Salt and Pepper Village - that one HUUUUUUGE, elegant buffet restaurant on the Seaside..it looks like a village..the decor and all..kinda cute..the buffet features EVERYTHING under the roof..and has the MOST AMAAAZING selection of desserts. mashaAllah

2) Bundoo Khan - busted little old place famous for seekh kabab, chicken tikkas and parathas. i forget what the area it's in is called..but damn good food.

3) BBQ Tonight - clifton/defense/zamzama area..actually..it's really close to the sea..the winds start getting stronger in that area..anyway..great food. self explanatory.

4) Chaandni - pearl continental hotel - asian food buffet style. to die for.

5) Suzy Wong Restaraunt - marriott hotel - chinese food buffet style. to die for.

6) Hanifia - BEST HUNTER/ROAST BEEF SANDWICHES IN THE FREAKING WORLD. been around forever and a half.

Mcdonalds - Don't forget to dress up like your going to a shaadi rofl

I've never been Karachi, apart from Karachi airport, but I stayed in the plane.

haahahahaha. right!!! i totally agree. we'd go out to these 'western' places to eat and ppl would be dressed wayyyy fancy...

i think it's because realistically speaking..if you LIVE in karachi..after a while..there's REALLY not much to do.. and so eating is the only thing left...people in karachi are really really big on eating out in groups.. at least the 'upper' class.. so they turn every group eat out into the formal-est

i think personally to wear sooo much make up and jewellery and nice new clothing would be uncomfortable if you just wanna chill out and stuff your face

Is this a tip off from al-queda central? Can you be a bit more specific?

I last visited in 2004 and I went to Salt and Pepper and BBQ Tonight. I don't really remember which restaurant I liked better. We also went to KFC and pizza hut every other weekend or so, and no we did not dress up! lol. oh and watching people eat pizza with a knife and fork was hilarious.
I want to visit again soon, iA!
