I really don't see how calling somebody stupid is the same thing. When you call somebody stupid, you're just insulting them. It's not a comment about their race or socioeconomic class.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to act like I'm better than you. Everybody's guilty of making some of these kind of comments sometimes and using offensive terms. We should all think about what we say and what our words really mean.

"Trailer Trash" does not refer to any particular race, so it can't possibly be a racial slur. "Trailer Trash" is not a race. Now if someone says, "White Trailer Trash", which is specifying a race, then yes it would easily be considered a racial slur.

Is it derogatory against a whole race? No. But for those who consider it is, I hope that they also consider 'ghetto' to be a derogatory term as well. I don't find neither of the words to be derogatory, for they merely describe a classless demeanor of behavior, which is predominate [but of course not restricted to] in certain areas, i.e. in the ghetto or in trailer parks.

porch monkey doesnt refer to a race either, it refers to somebody who sits on a porch all day but resembles a monkey. However, its understood to refer to a black person therefore it is a racist term. Certainly it is conceivable for a white person or somebody from some other ethnicity to be lazy and unemployed and sit around on a porch all day doing nothing, but that doesnt mean you have to call somebody a 'black porch monkey' for the term to be racist. The same goes for the term wetback which refers to people who swam across a river to cross a border and migrate into this country. Not everybody who immigrates into this country is a hispanic, but you dont have to call somebody a "hispanic wetback" to be using a racial slur. Its common sense. "White trash" and "trailer trash" are pretty much the same term. Even if it isnt racist, its still derogatory
