My little sister (Kerrigwen) is an election officer this time around as she was for the last election. She found out some pretty funny stuff the way our elections are run, including the fact that no one in Canada can overrule her call on the numbers except a Supreme Court Judge.

I'll be going after work and predictably, I'll probably be voting for the Liberal rep in my riding, Bonnie Crombie.

i remember pre-islamica crash there was an elections canada thread

ndp seems to be the best choice still.

NDP has no chance anytime soon, or i should say i dont have any hope for them anytime soon.

North Americans bleed red and blue still....long way for other colours...

i'm following the elections this year pretty closely.

Legacy of Paul martin tore the liberals back...Liberal party has much to recover still...

Liberals are sweeping Mississauga pretty well so far...

At least NDP made significant gains .... them and the Libs put together will be tripping up Harper's crew at every turn, and for me that's an acceptable alternative to an outright Liberal majority / minority govt.

Harper wanted the election early because a) if Obama won, Canadians like their government to be ideologically-akin to the American government because the perception is that it is better for trade, and b) he knew the economic crisis was coming (and is still coming), so this was the best time for him to call an election.

It's ok, now we just pray that Gerard Kennedy is the next Liberal leader, and next election the liberals get back in control.

the Liberal messed up when the voted Dion as their leader. They would have been better of with Ignatief (sp)

Everyone saw the conservative minority coming, I didnt think it would be stronger than before... I was hoping for the NDP + Liberal seats to add up to more than whatever the Conservatives recieved and than maybe forming a coalition...and than Mrs. GG can do something useful and dissolve the Harper Govt.. Make a Lib-NDP stable govt?? it would make things more interesting..

He did pretty well on the financial front however his leadership was ineffective. He couldn't unite libereals on issues ranging from Canada's participation in Iraq/Afghanistan, couldn't handle financial scandels that liberals were accused of..

Not really...Dion is a much better choice. I went to a dinner organized by pakistani businessmen and Ignatief was invited where he gave a speech clearly supporting canada's role in afghanistan and his pro-isreal views. His insensitivity towards the predominantly muslim audience was pretty shocking...I was like "no way i'm gonna vote for him" lol
