officially eating out sucks big time..man i always lived through this illusion that my city is filled with halal restaurants..but alas with my dad's strict scale of what consitutes as 'halal' boiled all the so called "halal restaurants" into 'just two edible/islamically permissible places' where we can eat nowadays..

Waleykum asalaam,

It was Tableeghi Ijtema, not a conference ... Some top Ulema such as Hadhrat Maulana Ahmed Ladh sahib (db), Hadhrat Maulana Naeem (db), etc. and other Buzurg (Akabireen) were special guests from Deoband, India and Pakistan that attended the three day imaan boosting workshop.

Over one hundred people decided to go in Jama'at for fourty or more days after the concluding dua made by Maulana Ladh (db) sahib. It's not about how many people show up to the event, its about how many people go in the path of Allah to become Daee's so that their life becomes a means of guidance for others.

Barakat on Richmond St.'s not that bad. I heard they recently expanded the restaurant?

There are other places listed on the London Masjid's site and some of them are christian owned, so i was wondering if they're really *halal* by hanafi standards?

I know the owner's brother and actually attended the owner's Nikah ceremony ...lol

I didn't know there were desi restaurants in London...? London is dominated by Arabs, i rarely see desis there.

I'm there at least once a week for work and i'm always looking for good halal restaurants to have my lunch or dinner or snack, etc. depending on the time i get there.

I am not surprized to know that you know the owner....cuz pretty much everyone knows him in the community ....for obvious reasons lol
but do you know his brother?

I didn't find any of your questions to be superficial...I just illustrated some differences b/w conferences and the Tableeghi ijtemah...as they're based on diff principles and concepts.... corporate biz vs. non-corporate, etc.

Oh, yeah... the ijtema. I think a couple of my family members made it for some parts of it. And I heard from a friend that Maulana Ladh was amazing.

Taste of the Danforth starts today and lasts through the weekend.
There is also the Youth Tarbiyah Conference.

And Imran Khan's gonna be at York U on Sunday afternoon.
