Re: The Toronto Crew
No, I actually meant the one that happenes in December. People probably thought that the ISNA conference had little to offer that RIS wouldn't.

Oh yeah the main RIS event? dude that's like seven months away.
I guess some people did stay away because of that reason, but honestly ISNA needs some organizational skills.
Its a really simple matter to call up other orgs several months in advance and coordinate with them to black-out certain dates exclusively for one major event or another so that the Muslims' money [an amaanah, no less] isn't wasted due to incompetence.

Re: The Toronto Crew
300 people? That's all?
I didn't go mainly 'cause it's not central. RIS is close to my home; ISNA is all the way in the middle of nowhere (sorry, 'Sauga people you know I love you all).
I practically live on the TTC and don't mind taking the bus, but if I have to take the subway and then the GO bus too... Long commute.
Not worth it on my only day off.

Re: The Toronto Crew
well my sisters came for a sleepover cause the hubby was in montreal so we stayed up late and got up late...and then ISNA didn't happen..we did have fun shopping and eating and driving everywhere. I really like the Lin Garden in Missisauga..not greasy like scarborough.

Re: The Toronto Crew
I too missed out on ISNA festivities because I was out of town. But to be honest, I'm not a big fan of ISNA, ever since RIS came into the picture.
Speaking of RIS, did you all hear about the lectures upcomming this weekend at IMO.
AND there is an RIS summer retreat happening this year. Should be good.

The only info I can give you is what's on the official site;
RIS - Reviving The Islamic Spirit 6th Convention (Dec. 28-30, 2007)
Unoffically I can say that the sheikh that are supposed to be there make this an event worth attending.

I've got a question.
Do Torontorians eat tuna fish?

Subways are over rated. I eat one and then a few minutes later I'm hungry again
Pizza on the other hand...
