Montreal was alright...786 branch is wayy better over there..great food. We went to several souvenir shops in old montreal. One was owned by these turkish/arab looking folks..the teenage son of the shop keeper started to follow us around..First I thought that was just me, but then my hubby told me he was following us to keep an eye on the no gooder pakis. I felt so humiliated, I wanted to go back to the store and: but the hubby is good at steering me away from trouble.

Quebec was really nice...we got a parking ticket..in french, the signs were so misleading. I refuse to pay it. the russian players were staying at our hotel..The funny thing is they were walking around the lobby with Gold medals dangling from their necks..way to be humble guys.

the funnier part was russian fans were roaming around drunk singing and celebrating. They were so wasted...and graffitied some of the signs in old quebec.

Hoping to go to ISNA..iA see you guys there.

My fam went to the qirat event at foundation...they really enjoyed JJ.
ahhh i didnt expect to be reminded of the heartbreaker loss on here!! haha those russians... u should have seen them on the ice... lol but they deserved it! they played great! it was tough to watch thoe canada was 20 mins away from winning blew it in the third, and lost in ot on a stupid rule penalty!! :cry the fans wwould have been crazier if canada had won!

nee ways.. just read this in the star.

Bail denied for Toronto terror suspect
May 20, 2008
MICHELLE SHEPHARD
SAN GREWAL
STAFF REPORTERS
A terrorism suspect arrested as part of an alleged "homegrown" cell has been denied bail and will have to await trial in jail alongside his co-accused.

Brampton court Justice Casey Hill turned down an application for bail for Saad Gaya during a brief hearing today before a packed courtroom.

Many of his supporters and relatives burst into tears as they left the courtroom.

Hill relesed a 63-page ruling as to why the bail was denied but a publication ban prohibits the reporting of his reasons.

Gaya is one of 10 adults on trial for terrorism offences, including an alleged plot to bomb downtown Toronto buildings and a military base.

Known as the trial of the so-called "Toronto 18," Gaya was arrested with the 18 other suspects in June 2006 as part of Canada's largest terrorism investigation since the criminal code was amended following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Gaya was at first considered a youth and not identified, but prosecutors later determined that the alleged crime occurred when Gaya was 18.

Now 20, his bail hearing drew dozens of supporters who decried the length of his pre-trial hearing.

Of the original 18 who were arrested, charges have been stayed for three of the youths and four of the adults. The remaining young suspect, who cannot be identified due to the Youth Justice Act, is now on trial.

Pre-trial motions in the case against Gaya and the other adults began today but the trial itself is likely months, if not more than a year away.

I would agree, largely because the cost of living in London is insanely high.

Yeah it was really sad.

I was walking to the courthouse with my brother and I met two bros walking out, with really pissed looks n their faces and I knew what happened right away. I felt terrible and just sat down on a bench outside and went in only much later. A lot of friends and family had shown up - several several dozens, and most of the relatives' eyes were red from so much crying.

its retarded how they play with the lives of innocents just to pass new laws and play politics.

If you've got 1400 bucks to spare, an electric motorbike might not be a bad way to get around. No gas, no license, and no insurance required!

Also, anyone ever visited the Islamic Foundation of Toronto? The star had an online videoclip on them, and from what I can see, the building looks amazing.

As for ISNA, I decided not to go since a) I like to sleep in on weekends, b) dad needed my help in the lawn. Let me know how it was, whoever went.

Yeah no license or insurance - for now.

I'd buy one if it could go faster than the 32 km/h. Otherwise thats just really slow for me. But the three cents per day cost is pretty attractive.

Yeah dude, I been there tons of times over the years. I think most people who live in the GTA area have been to Foundation masjid at least once. I know plenty of Islamicans who have for sure.

Everybody's been to Nugget Mosque. I was asked to help out at the doors open thing too, but I had work on Saturday.

Sunday, we were supposed to go to ISNA (Spice and I) but I didn't feel up to it since I only have one day off a week and I like to relax and spend some time with the family on that day (plus it's a long commute to 'Sauga)... and she was sad. And mad at me. But then she had to study Economics anyway.

So nobody here went? I was only gonna go to hang out with Spice (who I see often anyway) and meet Islamicans (and none of you went apparently).

OOOOOO.KAYYYY.

So, I didn't get to go because of family and my sister's baby and all, but DID ANYONE ON ISLAMICA go to ISNA at all?

I heard this year was pathetic, with one person saying only about 300 or so people showed up. Like, what the heck? This is TOR.ON.TO.

THREE HUNDRED? bwahahahahahaa ... there's at least that many people just in the food-court and bazaar at any one given time during RIS. Heck, last year even Ottawa pulled in a few thousand people for the ISNA conference there.

ISNA probably lost mad money on this conference this year, and the people responsible for scheduling and advertising should be sacked, pronto:

- ICNA @ al-Falah Masjid had a huge two-day ladies program taking place
- Dr. Yusuf Islahi was in town and had a huge turn-out at his event
- There was a Qur'an Qiraat competition taking place as well [in Markham or at Foundation, not sure]
- the Open Doors events taking place at A LOT of Toronto Masjids also drew huge crowds.

incompetence, ISNA style.

seriously, I need to go talk to Dr. Ashraf, Pervaiz Naseem uncle and all.

what the hell is this crap

Maybe people decided to hold out on ISNA, because they figured they were gonna go to RIS anyway. Just a guess...
