They serve alcohol at those things? I've never been.

Desis in large numbers make me nervous.

I'm not sure if they do. Since I've never gone myself, but I'm quite sure there're drunk people anyway.

So yeah, I think I'm going to go

Nobody's gonna be drunk. I doubt it.
And even if they are, it's not like PSA is condoning that. They're not serving alcohol. If anything, it's BYOB.

February's really coming in with unrelenting vengeance.

We're not even half-way through the storm yet, the center of which is currently over Indiana and Ohio and its heading our way. And to top it off, all this snow is going to be followed up with a massive dump of ice rain later in the day today.

Me and my dad just came back from Jum'ah - since I'm working from home today - and I saw everything from small cars, to SUVs and big-ass Titan trucks, all the way to the big transit buses ... everyone slipping and skidding in the snow.

If you go out driving in this weather its because you just have to or you're really desperate for something ... or you're really stupid.

Yo guys ... is it true that Mandarin uses alcohol to cook their food? I don't eat halal but damn ... I ain't eating that.

On a random note ... who goes to Maki Maki sushi on Burnhamthorpe? lol They have a lunch buffet Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday up to 4pm. It's only like 13 bucks.

I eat at Mandarin sometimes and their food is alright.

As for alcohol - they use cooking alcohol during cooking only and its pretty much all gone by the time its served, and of it that's left has undergone chemical transformation and there's absolutely no intoxication so I really don't see why people freak out when they hear about this.

Some of their other dishes like steamed rice, mussels, etc are not cooked with any cooking alcohol at all.

Regarding the alcohol:
From Sunnipath (Food Prepared With Alcohol)

And:
Quote:
Does Cooking Purify?

As for cooking with alcohol that is a liquid intoxicant, since the alcohol in food evaporates upon cooking, one might imagine that that removes the filth. In reality, even though there may remain no body of the alcohol in the food, the food is filthified upon contact with it and is not purified by the evaporation of the alcohol, but only by being washed.
-Sunnipath

Almighty Allah knows best.
