I read The Times! Although, I've come across some stoopid bull**** in there. But I guess that's inevitable?
Others include Independent, Guardian, oh and Telegraph is crapp!

You can go to Waitrose and Sainsbury's for organic!
Or just go to groceries run by locals...

and vhat is Sephora?

Red face as a newbie

thoughts on London so far:

- the climate is great for dry skin and hair, there's so much moisture.
- unfortunately that moisture seems to cause mold to grow inside your home near windows
- it's cold here! it's a different sort of cold than in NY, where your face hurts from the cold. Here it's like you freeze from inside out, like in Toronto where you can't feel your toes desite wearing double socks. Thermals are a must.

- Rather than small grocery stores there are small mom and pop type stores and then huge ones like Tesco/Asda. Unlike in the US there don't seem to be a lot of different brand names, products are mostly Asda/Tesco etc brand. I like the Asda fresh fruit juices, lots of mango flavors.

- Entennmans needs to come here. There are American food products, but limited amounts. Fewer Betty Crocker varieties, no Uncle Ben's Wild Rice, and no un iced strawberry Pop Tarts. Or Barilla pasta. I haven't eaten through the entire grocery store here yet, but I think American grocery stores have better products and variety.

- a lot more muslims here than in NY. tons of hijabis.

- the halal meat shops are so clean here with all the different cuts arranged neatly in cases. .

- on the radio there are several desi music radio stations.

- H&M has the same stuff here, yay. The malls are really nice here, but you have to pay for parking in some which is weird. And grocery stores have 2 hour limit parkings. Parking should be free so people can take their time and spend money. The malls are really nice here though. The store Accessories has nice though pricey hijabs.

- stick shifts cars are evil. I stalled it 5 times on my first lesson. Also now I'll have to think about both how the car works (the clutch is hard to press), and pay attention to the confusing roundabout roads (and remember to drive on the other side). Too much thinking involved.

- there's a lot more land and space in the US.

- central London is really pretty, I love the old architecture.

- I like the Independent and the Guardian. Haven't read the Times much yet. The NY Times has more detailed/lengthier articles and editorials though.

- Food Network needs to come here. There are some shows like Come Dine With Me and some Top Chef type show, but I haven't seen a channel with solely cooking shows all day long.

London is gay as evidenced by the users on here from London, in England the colloquial term for people from London is poofter; which basically means a gay.

i concur

i had to drive all over london a few weeks back for three whole days. i was about to go maddddd i went to SW, E, NW. leyton, eastham, illford, all over. it was a horrible experience. and last time i went, i was going to an event in central. because of the stoooooopid traffic i missed the whole event so i got there as everyone was coming out. so we just drove all the way back

moonstar, are you in london for a trip or full time?

Glad your having fun in the UK. American food sucks, enjoy the good food in the Uk while you can, you'll miss the awesome chocolate when its not there.
