since you live on the far north side, lemme ask you something. how many mexican or latin gangbangers terrorize your neighborhood? cuz i know plenty that stand out at clark and devon peddeling dope on the steet corners.

and there in lies the problem. you have hoards of illegals flooding in from south america, working 14 hours a day. and nobody is watching the daam kids. they end up joining gangs, committing crimes, thier daughters are ho's and guess who pays for it all? you do. you pay for it through your taxes. tax this, tax that, sin tax, tax everything, is it any wonder that you pay more for gas in the city, at least 15 to 20 cents more than what i pay out in the suburbs, and im in cook county also? just where do you think the money comes from to house everyone at cook county jail over at 26th and california? a narc in the chicago police dept can make upto 50k a year. guess who pays for it?

then you have people overstaying visas, students whose visas have expired etc.

is this fair to all the other people worked hard and studied hard and waited patiently for thier visas and green cards? what about the people who have relatives overseas and filed for them? i do support family reunification as it is currenty in the law, and is it fair to those poeple who sat there and waited years on end, sometimes more than a decade for thier green cards, while these illegals simply jumped the border, or overstayed thier temporary tourist or student visas? or h1b temporary work permits? no its not fair to those people who followed the law. if you dont follow the law, why should we have any sympathy for them, when other people did follow the law.

Um... that's one way to look at it.

But, realistically speaking, it's not that illegal immigration should be celebrated; it simply needs to be handled more effectively and treated more fairly. We shouldn't be repulsed by those that pass our borders willingly; we should make it easy for them so illicit actions aren't their only resort.

I won't lie... having a massive population of people who don't pay their taxes isn't practical for any democratic nation. But loathing and kicking everyone out isn't the solution. The embracing of immigration is what made America the beautiful, colorful tapestry it is. We should be working to weave in the new threads; not ripping them out or sweeping them under the rug.

I live on the Far WEST side of chicago...The only people terrorizing me are Police Officers and other people of the same colour wearing a different colour of clothing.

why should we have to keep bringing them in or 'making it easier'? these people are not fleeing persecution, or war or famine, they are only nothing more than economic migrants. is it no surprise then that indians make up 20% of worldwide migrants? is there immigrantion allowed in saudi? or other gulf states? no there isnt. theres a guest worker program, once they are done with thier contract... they go home!

besides there are plenty of jobs in thier home countries. india and china make up the most amount of green cards being filed for, why? there are plenty of jobs in india and china, cuz they all came from america. theres no execuse anymore, when people living in the old city ghettos of hyderabad, are now living a middle class lifestyle to a point, that there are so many jobs, i just read in a hyderabadi newspaper that even housewives and school drop outs are now being recruited to fill those call center and i.t. jobs. stay home then, you will live the same lifestyle. how many factories are now sitting there at the u.s. mexico border? i support the current immigrantion law that way it is set up. after all people wait patiently for family reunification for years on end, and they followed the law. its not fair to them when people come here or overstay here illegally.

if you feel that strongly about pro-immigration, i suggest you do your part and go marry a fob from india/pak or whatever country your parents hail from, and bring that guy's entire family over here, house them, feed them, cloth them, shelter them, and everything else. but dont come crying and whining, when he takes his green card, ditche you in the dust, and goes back to his home country to marry a 'fair skin' girl by dangeling that green card you gave him, in front of her face.

as for welfare, food stamps is to keep children from starving at bed at night. if india had this program, i assure you there wouldnt be children begging for food on the streets or rummagaing through the garbage bins of india's trains, as i had witnessed with my own eyes once late at night in bhopal.
