i found out today when my dad visited yemen last, he went to this village and while he was there, he passed around some money to the poor. this one guy came up to him, my dad put his hand in his pocket to take out some change, then stopped.
dad: wait, do you chew qat? poor guy: yeah. who doesn't? dad: *takes hand out of pocket* nevermind. me: OMG YOU'RE SO MEAN!!! dad: why should i give him money so he could go eat grass??

so i was helping my 7 year old brother out on his weather forecasting project that was supposed to be of the weather of the week that the hurricane came in, so i made him a list of the temperature highs and lows and (all this was according to my memory of the days of that week) and if it was sunny, partly cloudy, rainy or whatever. so i write all this down and for friday night i make a little hurricane and tell him:
me: ok put a little hurricane on for friday night/saturday early morning at 2 am. and make sure to put the eye in the middle of the hurricane when you draw it. him: ohhhh so Ike had an "I" in the middle? me: yeah (thinking he means "eye" ) him: so katrina had a "K" in the middle?? woahhhh how cool! so thats how they name them! me: no, katrina had an eye too. him: but why? katrina starts with a "k"! *goes on to draw a hurricane with the letter "I" in the middle in pencil* me: (after 5 seconds it hits me what hes talking about) NO eye as in the EYEBALL of the hurricane. him: OHHHH!!!!!! cracked me and my dad up.

i wear a wristband that has "muslim" written on it. so i was in my chem class and this hindu kid saw it, pointed at it and said, "haha just in case i didnt know?"
