Do any Memons in here eat a chicken curry made with coconut milk, yogurt and a masala made out of some nuts (As well as some other regular ingredients)?

It's like a Malaysian/Thai thing. I have to find out more about its origins. But I've never had it at a non-Memons house..just as I've never had khausa (spaghetti with coconut milk curry and beef chunks (kind of like meatballs but not really)...This recipe was Burmese and was modified by Memons who settled in Burma..they brought it back to Pakistan with them during their visits.

So I'm thinking this coconut chicken curry has a story of its own as well.

It's really, really, really good

It depends what kind of Memon you are actually. My dads side, which is Dhoraji (in Gujarat) actually make the normal yellow kind. My mom (her parents are from Bombay) makes the coconut kind.

I like the coconut kind much better. Grew up eating that so the yellow one tastes terrible to me with meat and pasta.

Also, there are minor variations amongst families etc. Some relatives of mine top the pasta/meat/curry with bite sized fried potatoes, whereas some of us just use regular potato chips. Just a matter of preference

Also, I had no idea that Gujaratis made the dish at all. Kinda surprising...I know Gujjus who never had that until we introduced them to it.

there are a lot of gujus - especially surtis - in burma, so it makes sense.
