I guess if I'd mentioned William Shakespeare, you would've thought I was 500 years old

Re: Memon Pride
What does thiyo mean?
Just 'cause you say karo doesn't make chup a verb. The verb is karo.

You would only use karo with something that you do, ie a verb. You don't do quiet. You be quiet. "thiyo" means be/become (when addressing an elder or multiple individuals).
People say "chup kar" (vs "chup thi") if they're speaking informally, but if you're using 'aein,' it sounds dumb.

Re: Memon Pride
No, the doing is the verb. Chup is still a state.
Be is a verb too.

You're missing the point.
When you tell someone to assume a state, you tell them to become it vs do it. "Be quiet." Be is a verb here, yes, but quiet is not.
When you tell them to do something that is already a verb, that would be when you use "karo," like "jump karo."
You could also use kar as a standalone verb if you're using a noun that you are operating on.

Yeah, I see what you're saying.
Chup is in the imperative. But I think doing (karo) it means to assume that state (the state of being chup)... it's kinda implied that chup is a state.
Anyway, so it is a verb, even in Memoni.
