i am glad i wasnt brought up with memons.

but im curious about one thing. memon is just a language its not a race. they look like your typical desi. so basically that would be an indo-aryan thing that your talking about there then. but then again look at your bollywood actor's, they all look like white guys with tans.

ive noticed memons with an african connection to be a lot lighter as a whole.. and since lighter skin tone is considered more appealing, then i guess they are goodlooking.

but lighter skin tone doesnt say anything about features...and ive only been to like one african memon induced memon gathering in my life. so what i think doesnt count.

tho it's interesting to me that green eyes are a lot more common amongst african memons

i honestly wouldnt know. 90% of desis i come across usually hail DIRECTLY from the sub-continent and have roots and ties there.

you have plenty of memon's in India too, just like you have sindhis in India too. i just dont get how a people who left the sub-continent long before independence and partition of India, can claim to be from Pakistan? how could you possibly know that some great-great-grandfather who left India for someplace in Africa with the British, whose hometown would still be known? how many mohajirs in Pakistan today, even know what town, or what part of India thier families originally hail from? and that was only in 1947. not many, and i have asked plenty of mohajirs this question.

but my contention is with the statement that shsh made. she said that most memon guys are ugly in her view. but since memon is a language and not a race, you really cant tell the difference between memons and other desis. i know alot of memons, theres a huge community of memons in my city, take shsh for example (who spotted me in a restaurant on the last iftar of ramzan). i honestly cannot tell the difference between a memon, a punjabi, a hyderabadi, a gujju etc. since most desis are of the indo-european stock, and this is pretty what they display as the standard of attractiveness in bollywood, with the guys looking like white boys with tans, wouldnt her statement then thus apply to all the desis of indo-european stock? punjabi, pathan, baluchi, memon, sindhi, gujju, bengali, marathi, the north indian urdu speaker, or the south indian urdu speakers whose language shows a indo-european genetic link?

it's coz we're still pure memons & yall are mixed in with gujus

kidding.. i'm actually very dark for a memon. my guess is recessive traits were brought to the fore through a smaller breeding pool & generations of intermarriage.

uh.. there have been bollywood movies made with very pure urdu, but no bollywood movies i can think of have been made with pure hindi

you do realize its all sanskrit. words like rashtriya bhavan, janata dal, agni, akash, rakshak etc. these are sanskrit words.

Joke about a memon family!

A memon family in kharadar was puzzled when the coffin of their dead mother arrived from LONDON (actually leicester...but anywhere in UK is LONDON) . It was sent by one of the daughters. The dead body was so tightly squeezed inside the coffin with no space left in it !

When they opened the lid , they found a letter on top, which read as follows:

"Dear brothers and sisters, I am sending our mother's body to you, since it was her wish that she should be buried in the grave yard in Mbewa Shakeel bha. Sorry, I could not come along as all of my paid leaves are consumed.
You will find inside the coffin, under Amma's body, 12 cans of cheese, 10 packets of chocolates and 8 packets of Badam. Please divide these among all of you. On Amma's feet you will find a new pair of Marks and Spencers shoes(size 10) for Kassam Bha. Also, there are 2 pairs of shoes for Jubeda's and Jarina's sons. Hope the sizes are correct. Amma is wearing 6 I love LONDON T-Shirts. The large size is for Sattar Bha and the others are for my nephews. Just distribute them among yourselves. The 2 new Jeans that Amma is wearing are for the boys. The Swiss watch that Johra Bai wanted is on Amma's left wrist (IT IS FAKE). Kulsum Bhabi, Amma is wearing the necklace, earrings and ring that you asked for. Please take them.The 6 white cotton socks that Amma is wearing must be divided among my teenager nephews.
