so people who have ever gone through or lived in lahore:

I have a connecting flight this winter that takes me through lahore airport, and my mom is dead scared because all our relatives are in karachi and I would be alone there should anything happen (bomb attacks, getting robbed by pickpockets, etc.)

any advice on what to watch out for and be aware of?

If you're only going to stick around at the airport, there shouldnt be any problems- I cant understand why your family would be so worried, if anything, its worse in Karachi ()

The safest mode to adopt would be to keep a close eye on your luggage at all times, all times. Dont trust the porters too much, and stay away from large crowds. And if the wait time for your next flight isnt too long, then stay inside the airport. Otherwise, being a single guy, clearly foreign, and clueless in terms of the city/people, you'd be setting yourself up.

InshaAllah khair, though! You'll be fine

two summer ago my mom and I were in Pakistan and my brother was coming at a later date well we totally forgot the day he was coming and he calls us when he arrived at the airport asking us where we were. my mom freaked out cuz we forgot about him and we were 6 hours away from the airport. she was mostly afraid cuz she thought something would happen to him since he barely speaks the language and he hadn't been to pakistan prior to that in a long time. anyways later on when we picked him up he said everyone was haggling him about renting a car from them, buying snacks from them, etc. my brother would purposely talk in english with them so they wouldn't understand what he was saying in hopes of them leaving him alone..it worked. and i think he ended up paying someone 5 bucks to "shoo" everyone away. he didn't say it was scary or dangerous just annoying.

and i would def stay inside the airport- less people to bug you. when you walk outside the airport they wont let you go back in [they didn't let us]. you probably dont want to go outside anyways cuz there's literally hundreds of people waiting outside to see their families. it's kind of intimidating. i remember walking out with my mom and everyone taking pictures [why? i have no clue]...you kinda feel like a celebrity though

Lahore airport is fine. You should be fine inside. The security is good and it doesn't smell that bad. The porters might get annoying but just look like you know what you're doing (even if you don't).

Lol, I found that hilarious. There were so many people outside and it was like 3am. Maybe they should invest in a red carpet.
