So who attends or attended mcc/mec? DId anyone grew up there, like me? I dont go there anymore, i only stop by once in a while or in ramazan, since i goto Jame Masjid now. But there was mcc sunday school, and ramadan nights that i remember going back to the late 1980's. Who else went to mcc or mec? Who is old enough to remember the fight there was over buying the mec school building back in 89'? lol.

I know of a few people on these boards who went to mcc, like 'whyamihere' for example. I think someone else even recognized my pic and remembed meeting me back in the early 90's.

MCC YOUTH CAMP

Have you ever dreamt about paddling a canoe, shooting a bow and arrow, joining with a group of other youth around a campfire or looking up at a the sky and seeing a million stars? Well, now is your chance to do all of this! Muslim youth have been enjoying this and more at the Muslim Youth Camp.

The 27th Annual Muslim Youth Camp this year is scheduled for August 5 - 11 for the brothers and August 11 - 17 for the sisters at Camp White Eagle in Leaf River, Illinois

(about 100 miles from Chicago near Rockford). The camp is for children 12-18 yrs. old, and counselors 18-25. Only a limited number of counselors can come.

For one week, the Camp is an opportunity to get away from school, home, telephone, TV, and computers and live in an Islamic atmosphere of learning and fun. The education program is stimulating, full of discussions, work shops, halaqas and more. The active and motivational recreational program includes team building, challenge hikes and obstacles, rock climbing, canoeing, arts & crafts, swimming, water and field sports and more.

Life long friends are made at camp. People's lives have been changed at camp. It is an experience you do not want to miss.

The Muslim Youth Camp, sponsored by the Muslim Youth Council of Muslim Community Center of Chicago, is an Islamic activity in which the youth can participate in a supervised Islamic atmosphere of learning and fun. The adult supervisors, who will be there as counselors and teachers, have children and consider all of the campers as their own.

Other Muslim Youth groups in the Chicago area and in the neighboring states are participating again this year. As we have an upper limit to the number of campers we can accept, we urge you to take advantage of this opportunity to register early to be assured a place in Camp.

The fee for this camp includes lodging, three meals a day, all educational and recreational activities, and transportation from MCC to the Camp and back. Trained staff supervise all water activities, archery and riflery.

There are a number of youth in our community who would like to go to Camp but their parents do not have the money to send them. When you register, you can help these young people enjoy this activity by donating something extra to the Camp.

Why a nun can be covered from head to toe and she's respected for devoting herself to God, but then a Muslimah does that, she's considered "oppressed"? When a Christian kills someone, religion is not mentioned, (i.e Ireland and the IRA) But when a Muslim is charged with a crime, it's Islam that goes to trial? But then again, why is it after all that, Islam is still the fastest growing religion in the world?
