Default Pakistan Appreciation Thread

I searched. Pakistan, Pakistani, Pakistanis... pages and pages of threads the vast majority of which are negativo

Well, I may not be Pakistani, but PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!!!

Leave the negativity, gloom and doom in other threads. Yes, the country is burning right now, but every cloud has a silver lining.

According to this site:
https://www.cia.gov/library/publicat...k/geos/pk.html

Sex ratio:

at birth: 1.05 male(s)/female
under 15 years: 1.06 male(s)/female
15-64 years: 1.05 male(s)/female
65 years and over: 0.88 male(s)/female
total population: 1.04 male(s)/female (2009 est.)

Which means a very LOW rate of female infanticide and feoticide.

compare that to India:
at birth: 1.12 male(s)/female

YAY Pakistan!

Due to actual poverty being reduced or a shift in the poverty line?

this is a pro: the people of pakistan, by and large, condemn acts of terrorism and they also hate their leadership.

I love visiting Karachi and going to the marketplace just to talk to people and not necessarily to buy stuff. I love hearing their stories, esp the Pathan cloth sellers. People in general, when you can get past the staring, are really very nice, quirks and all.

In 2005 right before I went to visit Karachi I got bitten by something right under my chin while I was standing under a tree in a dark parking lot. It itched sooo badly and my family physician gave me antibiotics and cream which didn't help. 3 weeks later in Karachi it was an angry red itchy flaky patch. I went to a dermatologist in Karachi who prescribed 2 different creams and within a week it was cured!

I miss Sea View (public beach). I miss going to Hawksbay and Sandspit and Gidani beaches with family friends to stay overnight at beach huts, riding the camels, watching monkey shows and collecting sea shells.

When I was a kid we went to Murree many times. The one time that I remember vividly was when I was 8. We took these chairlifts through the mountains, just me, my sister and my mom (my dada, aka grandfather was there but didn't go on the chair lift). We passed over a skinny road and a little village kid standing below began waving and shouting and laughing, and threw up a garland of daisies for us. The people in Murree (a northern mountainous area that's currently not very safe) were so sweet.

I miss the Pakistan of my childhood when things were safer and more peaceful overall, and the bad wasn't important because I was a kid
