New Delhi: Muslims in northern India will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday after Muslim clerics sighted the Eid moon in Lucknow on Saturday.


Eid, the biggest and most important festival on the Islamic calendar, is traditionally celebrated for two days.


The Muslim clergy decides the date after sighting the Eid ka Chaand. Some parts of India celebrated Eid on Saturday.


The festival marks the end of Ramzan, which is the holy month of fasting.


Amidst all the festivities there is also a security alert across the country after the recent blast at the Ajmer dargah. Security has been tightened at all mosques.
