it's so nice to (finally) hear a performer's perspective. i was unable to attend much of either open mic session, but i did manage to make it (a little late) to that truly beautiful "positive jam session" as you put it- if only the rest of open mic had been the same way! i think the hardest thing for people in leadership positions (in this case, with isna) to do is to just do nothing. isna always tries to keep things under control, which shows that yes, they are trying to maintain an Islamic atmosphere. unfortunately when they are disorganized in their efforts to maintain control, all hell pretty much breaks loose; it's sad for everyone involved (performers, organizers, and audience). but when isna finally does let go, like they did around 2am, we get beautiful events like what took place in the hallway *outside* the main hyatt hall.

though it's not my place to ask, i hope you come back to next year's isna. i know i might be crazy, but i think there is still hope for future entertainment sessions, and if you want i can try my best to put in a good word (not that i have any kind of pull, but i can at least talk to people). and next time, bring your wife! i want to meet her and discuss sustainability and the muslim community more

It was definately a pleasure shared a booth with you and the other volunteers at the MYNA table ....although ...my feet was hurting seriously insha'Allah...if the artists that was present want to give ISNA another try next year and/or we hear a good response from the youth that will likely see this videos online or was there in attendance...I'm sure we can do it again...the thing that made it so special was the fact ....that it wasn't scripted...so if we have amir sulaiman, liza garza, kumasi, ms. undastood...and others...and keep it in a up close and personal format...I think it would be tight...plus we wouldn't have to wait until ISNA...gave us the green light...we would have control of that....anyway...j-Seriyus....thanks again for working hard and making sure we had a decent time out there....and connecting with the sister to get us there and I think on that second night...you knew something good was going to happen...cuz you know that I was ready to call it a night...much love...to everybody...here's the link

Are you serious????...I've spoken to at least 5 artists ahki...that video needs to be online...if they had problem with being on film...they shouldn't of participted in the jam session in the first place...most of the artists want the video up...tyson, naeem, myself, j-seriyus, and you...can you send me the video in yousendit file??...this type of jam session... has never happen before and for someone to have the video taken down is wrong and unfair to the other artists....thts all I have to say..much love....

yeah, i stayed for both open mic sessions. it was pretty hectic. but alhamdulilah despite the chaos, the entertainment we started in the lobby on our own (after they cut the show and almost everyone left, lol) went great.
i have one or two vids i'll post up soon iA.
and yes!
if we dont have performers like the two punk bands who chased everyone away inshaAllah next year's jam session will be something to look forward to
