Ok, so I just got off the phone with my friend (who I was going to RIS with) and neither of us feel like going. Especially because of how late they announced it, the cost of the trip would be $800 (and thats just for airlines, hotel, and registration for the retreat) And it doesn't help that the canadian dollar is equal to the american dollar.

so I just booked tickets to visit my sister for 2 weeks Inshallah I'll spend christmas and new years with her and the nephew.

Ever been to the Texas Dawah Convention? Mash'Allah it's like the most halal thing out there! It'll be from Dec 21-24 this year.

You should dif check it out HOME

Also from Dec 26, 2007 - Jan 1, 2008 there's the MYNA Winter Camp at Bellefontaine, Ohio--which is during RIS

Haramoobobi, I was looking forward to going to RIS--oh well, alhumduillah--insh'Allah next time.
TDC is awesome. No offense to RIS fans out there, but TDC completely blows it out of water. It's worth checking out. I rather drive 2-3 times the distance to get to Houston for TDC than drive 8 hours to Toronto for RIS. No disrespect to ma home town Tdot.

Try telling us something we don't know?

Her speech at RIS is expected to be about porn and its effects on society and family life.

I'd rather not starve. I might regret it later but at least I'll have a warm tummy for a short while. They have some staple food right ? Kebabs ? Shwarma's ? Biryani ? Moose ? Seal blubber ?

Actually:

a) Weather - No more cold than what you would have in NYC at this time of the year, or even London - except we're more likely to get snow. And December is a balmy month anyways. You should really be scared of mid-January to mid-March because that's when winter hits us with a full body slam.

b) Going out - Toronto has the world's largest underground shopping mall, like freaking 30 kms of underground pathways all connected, over a thousand shops and restaurants and all that - check it out at City of Toronto: PATH - Toronto's downtown walkway .... we always go down there and just have a good time. And yea, its not cold down there.
