Nearly 200 years had passed since the death of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him), and the Muslim world was going through unprecedented changes. In order to prevent the loss of timeless secrets and preserve them for generations to come, a scholar in Iraq picked up his pen and began writing. Today, these secrets are once again endangered and are desperate for another reviver.

The scholar was Imam Harith al-Muhasibi. The secrets are his Treatise for the Seekers of Guidance. The reviver is Imam Zaid Shakir.

Do you ever find yourself in the midst of the uncertainties and personal struggle, striving to find peace?

Trying for a functional spirituality amid the routine of life's duties?

Do you sometimes dream of delving into academia hoping to reform the moral fabric of Islamic society?

Perhaps you are at this very moment seeking sincerity and struggling to keep morality alive. Or perhaps you are that Muslim professional searching for a coherent Islamic view on human development and salvation.

This book is for you.

On February 13th-15th, Imam Zaid Shakir is coming to Toronto to expound upon the lessons of Imam Harith al-Muhasibi’s Treatise for the Seekers of Guidance.

It wasn’t enough for him to translate and provide commentary on this text, he wants to sit down with you and teach it to you. Imam Zaid is committed to teaching you how to truly understand and apply the sensible constitution which Imam al-Muhasibi detailed over a millennium ago.

You might have pictured yourself sitting in front of your warm fireplace on
the cold winter days of February 13th – 15th, 2008. But little did you know that Allah would provide you with the opportunity to study the work of one of Islam’s greatest minds with one of Islam’s strongest leaders and voices in North America. And He has Power over all things!

Why should you attend this program?

* Gain the tools necessary to become a person of true integrity, have an impact on the moral psychology of the Muslim community, and be an agent of positive change.
* Discover a whole and integral path to help you overcome moral vice
* Learn what the Qur'an and Sunnah have to say about human development, spirituality and salvation
* Contextualize the Islamic guidance on spirituality with the social milieu of our times

...a layman's guide to Islamic spirituality.

Qurba means closeness (in Urdu/Arabic we have words like khareeb... same idea). So the idea of getting close to the shaykh and actually have an intimate gathering is key. Normally we're only exposed to these scholars in a conference like setting with 10,000 people. Not here though.

And yeah rahma, the best part is he's doing like a commentary of the book. AND the book comes with the program

Thanks, you're a rockstar.

I might come. If you can come all the way from Burlington, I can venture all the way to the other end of the Bloor-Danforth line. Kipling Station. I've never been all the way to the west before.

I guess all the cool events have to be in Rexdale, 'cause it's easily accessible for all the 'Sauga people too. Alternatively, there's always a lot happening all the way in the east too. It's like Siberia.

I guess RIS makes up for all the lack of events in the centre though, 'cause it's the biggest of them all.
And MIST is gonna be U of T St. George, right? You promised.
