In my manual as well as right above the gas tank specifies the gas that is required for my vtec engined car. And I wasn't aware that 97 civics required premium gas?
Either way, I'm not willing to risk my car, that I busted my ass to purchase, to save a couple dollars in gas. It's not worth it to me.

yea mine is 96 Integra GSR and even if it wasn't supercharged, it needs like 93 i think...the highest we have here is 91
I used to smog cars, and when bmw's and mercedes would come to in to get smogged and then fail, I always would ask if they were using premium...they would then say no, mostly. If they were close to passing I would tell them to refill with premium, drive for a bit and come back, like 90 percent of the time that did the trick.

Now since you said that, I'm uncertain whether I use 93 or 91. I never put anything but the highest in, and so far, it's been good. The only time it acts the fool was when my brother use to borrow it and abuse it by driving on E. Then when I'd get in, to find it on E , it got all jerky but would immediately stop once it got filled.

as long as you're over 89, you should be fine.. but definitely never fill up with anything less than 90.

Thanks. It's fun as hell to drive but a bit expensive to keep. From gas to insurance. Ahh.

I drive a Honda Fit 2008 and according to the manual I can use 87 for the gas tank. It is also a VTEC engine.

Re: Gas: How Much Are You Paying?
I use midgrade, or 89 octane for my 1994 Camry. It has almost 180K miles on it and runs fine. I pay about $3.50 per gallon. It is extortion plain and simple. How much of that is taxes? I heard 2 dollars per gallon is taxes.

It depends...sometimes as much as twice a week, sometimes once a week, even as much as 10 days. If 75% of that is taxes, the government has been making a killing. Does anyone know how much? or how much is collected as to what is recorded? Wouldnt surprise me if the government skimmed a little off the top

I try to keep it as much as twice a month, but at times it can be once a week. I take the bus to work to keep it down.
