Re: Gas: How Much Are You Paying?
Instead of driving around town comparing gas prices at different stations, GasBuddy.com gives you updated gas prices in your area.

One of my brothers-in-law has his cake and eats it too.
He has a substantial amount of money invested in oil / gas companies. So as the price of oil goes up, he gets a nice return, which in turn mitigates the increases at the pump.

Gas here is under $3.50. some places are like $3.35 or something. But you have to pay cash, which I rarely carry

What do you mean? It's all self-service here.

In Jersey its full service. You don't have to pump your own gas. The attendant does it for you.

No. Whenever I'm driving up to CT, I've noticed that Jersey has the cheapest gas. Its the cheapest between MD, DE, NY, and CT.

Yeah, it's weird. Why have someone else do it when you can do it yourself? Lazies.

Its like that in their entire state, I think. It must be mandatory or something.

Cute story about NJ pumping gas-- my husband was raised in the city without a car and when he finally did get one, he was in his 20s, he lived out in NJ were it's illegal to pump your own gas. So we're on our way to Philly but stopped to get some gas- my older brother and his fiancee were with us. Majid gets out the car and just looks around with the most sincere cute clueless expression ever. My brother of course was laughing at him, which got him even more nervous, I'm trying to tell him what to do through the window....it was really just so cute.

Vari: whoa, it's illegal to pump your own gas in NJ?
Yeup. True story. There's only two states where it's illegal, NJ and Oregon.
It was considered a danger back in the day...you'd think they'd update the laws by now but no.
It's also illegal to use a cell while driving, unless it's handsfree.

naw, if you're not careful pumping your own gas can still cause problems (overfilling the tank so gasoline runs on the pavement, smoking while filling up and the like). It's kinda nice to have someone pump your gas for you. Plus, if you're real pretty and you flirt really good (or your old like my mom and sweet talk) they will wash your windows and check your oil for you too
