Re: Broke! How broke are you? The Broke Thread
I've basically set down a set of rules for myself. As long as I follow the rules then I'll be debt free for the rest of my life Insha Allah.
# 1 is to stay away from credit cards even if I'm 100% convinced that I'll be using it as a debit card

I was rather pointing out that she's still complaining about not having money while being paid twice a month and that I get paid monthly and thus have to wait longer donchaknow

It always amazes me how people I know are willing to basically indenture themselves with debt for the sake of things they really don't need - especially since they're paying interest, though I guess that's not an issue for non-Muslims (aside from the financial implications of it). It's pretty much the normal American lifestyle these days.
Student loans are an exception, of course.. though it gets a little old hearing people complain about how theyre a gazillion dollars in debt, when they're expecting to go into a field where they're going to start off making a gazillion dollars a year.

Isn't credit card history required for major purchases?

Word.
However I do have and use a credit card, i have zero credit history (required for major purchases in the USA) this is the only way I can get my credit score up. I do ahve rules for my self though. Pay off the entire balance each month (which is usually somehting like $100 a month).

Re: Broke! How broke are you? The Broke Thread
Heh...I'm so broke, a homeless guy came to me asking if I had any money to give him, to which I replied "I was gonna ask you the same thing!"
Lame, I know
