He's hot.

Found an interesting ring site: sedonadiamonds.com

Too thick for me but the detail is beautiful.

This is really interesting, can't say that I've seen it before.

Don't care for the ring itself but it's a cute idea. The accent stones graduate from a light to dark blue.

I the setting:

Love the band design:

They customize words, symbols or characters on it:

I'd swap the yellow diamond for a champagne or chocolate one. Even a light green gem.:

there is no doubt that conflict diamonds are bad news, to say the least.

that being said, you can always go w/ diamonds that aren't natural...or w/ a reputable jeweller that doesn't use conflict diamonds. it's all about the research you do beforehand.

it's tradition to wear both together once you're married, and usually on the ring finger of the left hand. but some ppl wear them separately after they get married, one on each ring finger (engagement ring on right and wedding ring on the left hand). in most cases, when a woman gets engaged she can choose to wear it on either hand depending on preference. left-handed folks might do it differently though

most people i know wear both wedding and engagement rings on the left hand ring finger, and the first year anniversary (or 5th, 10th, whatever) ring on the right hand ring finger.

true story:

in one of her manic 'i'm going to die soon what will happen to you' moments, my mom dragged me jewelry shopping this weekend. i think we both wanted to kill each other in the process - me cause i don't like gaudy shiny stuff, her cause..well..i don't like gaudy shiny stuff. also, i didn't realize that i shouldn't have worn a hoodie cause apparently, it gets in the way of trying on stuff (which results in your mom yanking at your clothes uncomfortably to 'get a better look at what it'll look like when you're dressed up like a girl').

anyway. most of the day was an epic fail, but i did like a kara (bangle) and thought i'd try it on. it was a little loose, so i was asking the nice lady helping me if they had it in small, when my mom interjects with 'small ki koi zaroorat nahin hai, baad mein moti ho jao gi'.

...no one says it like it is like moms do. sigh.

Depends on the culture. Westerners always wear it on the left then add a wedding band to show they are married. Arabs (and many other cultures) wear the engagement on the right hand, then when married, switch it to the left.

When I was engaged, a lot of my classmates kept asking me why I was wearing my engagement ring on my right hand instead of my left so I'd explain. The wiki entry on wedding rings explains it

some people have expensive venues which they save up for months and months...and months. hey, why waste all that money on a single day when you could give it to the starving babies in africa? some women have dresses which could be enough for a down payment on a car. and some people have expensive rings..

you're never going back to your wedding day, in fact most people always complain about how they should have done something differently, or better or not at all. you're most probably never going to wear that dress again either, and i doubt it'd fit even if you wanted to..but you'll have your ring forever. you can always have it re-sized, re-designed and even resell if need be. like qudsia said, it's all relative.

i never buy anything unnecessarily and when necessary i try to get the best deal i can. but when it came to my ring it was a pretty, shiny rock all the way
