Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
I think everybody's parents comment on their clothes to some extent. My dad never hesitates to tell me when he thinks something I'm wearing is not appropriate. He'll be like "Your pants are too tight." Well... it used to happen. Doesn't anymore because now I tend to only wear long shirts.
Hell, I say it to my sister/younger cousins too, so I'm pretty sure I'd say it to my daughter if I ever had one.
As for make-up... I dunno. Middle school-ish?

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
My parents never comment on my clothes unless they want me to wear something nicer but all my clothes are pretty loose anyway so there isn't much room to talk about my clothes being hijabi enough.
Anyways, I just fell in love last night with wearing my liquid eyeliner under my lashes (as opposed to on top or between). Looks very natural and a nice touch if I also want wear it on top of the lash too.
And that one girl that does make up... she's so talented Since I got engaged I've been wanting to play around with makeup more than usual and try different looks. Although at the end of the day, I like to have at least a semi-natural look.
So ladies, and forgive me if this was already asked, but (besides base/foundation because sometimes that's just a necessity), what's the one article of makeup that you can't do without.. I mean if you were going to a non-formal event (obviously, weddings and such require more than just one piece of makeup, c'mon..), what would be one thing is a must?
For me, the eyeliner

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
ohhh, i can't pick just one. if i'm going out just to do errands, eyeliner + mascara usually helps me look less tired. for the longest time i used l'oreal voluminious but recently i tried out covergirl volume exact and i liiiike it! it has that cool, flexible brush without the normal bristles.. i don't know what its called, but it's kind of soft plastic-y. anyway, it keep lashes very full and clump-free. i'ma fan.

i think you should be a MAC bride..like me
on a side note: i dislike when tanned girls get a white-ish make-up done for their wedding.. it doesn't look natural.

i don't think i'll be trying the eyeliner under the lashline, on the top anyway. i've had too many bad experiences of not washing it off properly, and getting eye infections.
as far as the "one" thing that's a must... heh... its four things for me (studiofix + blush + mascara + lip gloss)

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
i started wearing makeup when i was 14ish... ofcourse at that time make-up meant lipstick/lipliner just a shade healthier than my normal lip color. i did that all through college (i'd wear foundation, blush, eye-liner and a different shade of lipstick only for parties/weddings etc.) i started wearing foundation+blush on a regular basis after i got engaged. and part of the reason was me thinking that i'll prolly get it right by the time i'm married (finding the right shade for my skin tone, getting better at using it etc.). eye-makeup for me is mostly just black eyeliner (mostly pencil on the lower lid, sometimes liquid on the upper lid). i've tried playing with eye-shadow but it takes me forever and i'm not very bold with it although i did buy myself some non-neutral shades within the last year.
my mom's always encouraged me to wear more make-up. even though i used and destroyed her favorite lip-stick at age 2.75. legend has it that my mom was getting ready for my khala's wedding and she left the room for a minute and the next thing she knew was my other khala bringing me over with my face covered almost entirely with the aforementioned lipstick and my khala had to run with me in the opposite direction almost instantly to rescue me from the consequences...
i think it's okay to start wearing some make-up once you're a teenager but i'm shocked/disappointed to see girls (aged 8-15) at the masjid, community events wearing hoochie makeup, glitter, bold out-there shades etc. i don't know how they get past their parents' just-making-sure-our-baby-girl-doesn't-grow-up-to-be-a-**** radar.
oh, n i had a make-up question before i got up and i was dreaming of posting it in this thread but then the alarm went off and i forgot to remember it...

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
Did you guys know that sephora will make samples for you? I wanted to try the smashbox photofinish primer before I bought it so they made me samples of the original and also the oil free.
