yes make-up brushes are much better than the applicators that come with your compact/eye shadows. A lot of the girls gave you the answers as to why [better control, more defined/finshed look-especially when it comes to eye shadows]. One of the reasons why I don't like using sponges to apply my foundation is that it absorbs too much foundation and you end up losing a lot of product. Foundation brushes aren't really designed to soak up the foundation so they give you a better finish and you don't waste your product as much. However, sponges are excellent for times when you accidently put too much foundation on; you can just dab the sponge on areas and absorb any excess foundation off your face. And I dont use those cotton pads that come with my compact because I feel like its a breeding ground for bacteria, so I use brushes. [Just wash the brushes regularly]

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
i have small eyes too and i like to wear black liquid eyeliner, it makes my eyes appear bigger. also i have a hard time wearing pencil liners, my liner always comes out wider.

Did you use pencil or liquid on the top? man if I use pencil on the top is smears to the top of my lid and ends up looking bad. I wonder how I can do it without it coming out so thick.

top pics i used liquid..bottom i used pencil
i know what you mean though, the pencil smears with me lots of times...the best way is to put a primer/coverup on your eyelids before you put eyeliner on

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
I'm having a slight change of hear about black eyeliner. I've found that taking an eyeliner brush and using black eyeshadow to line your eye looks much better on my eyes than black eyeliner. I still my brown though... depends on the outfit though

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
i know chapstick isnt really makeup, but i have really dry lips so i'm a chapstick addict.
i just bought some "Burt's Bees with Honey" chapstick, and i don't like the texture of it. chapstick is usually smooth, but this one is sort of like grainy compressed paste. sort of like aveeno chapstick.
my favorite chapstick of all time would have to be

smells good, tastes good, feels lightweight but lasts for a while

Re: The Official Make-Up Thread
another question about makeup brushes
i want to get an eyeshadow brush, but the brushes always seem to come in sets. where can i get an inexpensive brush (<$10) that works well? or do you generally sacrifice quality for affordability?
and also, what kind is best for applying eyeshadow? angled and sort of stiff-bristled, i'm guessing?

Ecotools Makeup Brushes
I like those. I had the bare minerals ones but I didn't like them at all. The bristles would fall out and they are SO rough. Felt like I was cutting my face. These are much softer and the bristles stay in tact. They cost much less too! I haven't had a problem with them so far. I've seen them at some walgreens and they are also available at Ulta.
